I went out today. I went south down to Seaside/Island Beach areas. No birds but I did manage to find small schools of large bunker. I ended up getting a nice 36" bass off Lavallette in about 25' of water live lining a bunker. Couldn't beat the weather. Made 40 kts back to Manasquan.

Nice !
I launched from Belmar, north to the highlands.
Massive early bird action, didn't see the jiggers hooking up so I went on the troll.
Soon dialed it in.....white shad umbrella and it was nearly constant hook up as soon as set up.
Double headers of short bass throw backs.
Then blues came in, and I boxed half dozen nice blues. I filet on both sides of the dark meat which gets fed to the seagulls. Broiled and delicious ( thanks to my wife )
Bite died off by 10:30 so I trolled here and there before heading back in at 1pm.
I do believe the FAT LADY IS SINGING for my V, but I may take a trip or two on party boats for large seabass and such.
Time to winterize the etec and then the long season of minor boat work till spring.
Thanks for the assorted New Jersey fishing posts. Nice that we share data.

Sounds like a nice day on the water in September, I mean December. Spent the day putting up Christmas decorations with the windows open and the heat off.

Yeah it's been a remarkable season. Both the fish and the weather cooperated nicely. I'm done too. Pulling the boat this week. I've got a long list of stuff I want to do before we head down to Charleston.
