Hey guys, hope everyone is having a great summer so far. I wanted to post a pic of my new boat rigged and ready to go.
I have booked 4 nights at the Edgewater Lodge on Long Key, Fla in September(Labor Day). I have fished in the Keys several times but this will be the first time trailering my own boat.
My wife and boys (7 and 9 years old) are ready to fish and dive. Lobster is in and grouper.

I need tips on offshore for dolphin, GPS # help for spearfishing and lobster and some general info that would help a virgin.

I have planned this trip since I was 5 years old and I'm about to bust.

I'd be glad to trade a free fishing charter for any favorite GPS'# provided.

Thanks guys! Happy summer!

All of my experience is with the Big Pine Key area, but I have had good luck with the Florida Sportsman Forum. They have 2 different forums for the Keys and a bunch of guys who live there and a few guides share information pretty freely.

Had a few trips to Key West and Summerland. Here's some pix to get you psyched. Your gonna have a blast!

Right inside the canals and channel edges you got mangrove (gray)snapper that never disappoint. Then you get dumped by a grouper or a shark cuts a snapper in half while you're reeling it in...

noaa chart 11452 & 11449

Tennesee reef. You see that 25ft lump on the outer ledge where the bottom begins to drop out? that's where I'd be chumming at night. Yellowtail & grouper.

Mahi outside in blue water... you see that 400ft lump in 700ft, out in the stream? N24deg.35min/W80deg.35min

fish the inside/outside reef early am, then troll out with ballyhoos, put something deeper for wahoo. If its a flat day, head for that hump. Troll the hump and if its really flat, drop a bait on top.
Finish the day on the outside edge of the reef.

If your staying on a canal, put a mahi rack on a hook and soak it while you grill the fillets. Tarpon/grouper/sharks love mahi racks. They'll break you off but its fun.

We snorkeled some lobster from the undercut channel edges and some sunken boats

Man, I wish I could go....

At exactly MM 54 just north of The Quay restaurant on the bay side is an old car hood with some lobsters underneath.

PS, Boat looks great!
