took a detour on the transom project. Too cold to do fiberglasssing.

Want to mount a second bilge pump forward of the fuel tank in the "fishbox".

Floor of fish box is soft anyways so I cut the bottom out.
In pic you can see the wet foam coring in the fishbox bottom and you can see a bunch of loose resin cement (looks like dog poop) partially blocking the bilge tube that goes under the fuel tank. I have always had intermittent trouble with the front of the boat draining properly.

Going to ditch the old bottom skin and foam of the box and use leftover pourable compound to stiffen it. Going to box out the new bilge pump and leave clear access to it and to the tube that passes under the tank.

You know what they say about the can of worms.....

Good idea Skunk. Will help save your stringers by having the water fully drain. I ditched the PVC pipe when I did my fuel tank, have an open channel running under the tank. Water runs out easily, but I'm sure I have at least a screwdriver or pair of pliers under there by now.

hey skunk, what is the weight difference between the original wood transom and the new cast one.

hey skunk, what is the weight difference between the original wood transom and the new cast one.

5 US gal per pail
Average pail weight 36
lbs

x 3 = 108 lbs (liquid weight)

I can tell you that the wood I took out weighed at least 100 lbs. Luckily, all the pieces and the saw dust went into a "Robo-can". I wouldn't want to have to lift that into a garbage truck.
