in the next week or so I am going to replace the fuel lines(fuel fill/vent hose/hose from tank to motor and hose from oil tank to engine. I get a light smell of fuel also there is a oily substance (rainbow effect in the water in the bilge. hoping hose replacement will take care of this. question is were is the best(cheapest) to buy hose from? any body got any hook ups?

Actually I have used Defender Marine for hoses. Or at least compare the prices.

Also if you are going that route and putting in new plumbing, I would pull the tank. If it is Aluminum and foamed in. Chances are it might be corroded through.

For 10' Amazon is about half the price.

i had a similar problem, turned out to be a small bit of the steel wire in the fill hose was exposed and touching the al tank at the fill spout. rotted out the bottom of the fill spout and everytime i put gas in, some would dribble out on the tank

If you don't already have a stainless fuel fill, now would be a good time to upgrade. My '85 had the chrome plated zamak/potmetal kind and literally broke off inside the gunnel.
