Got to tell ya Skools had a good condition 92 150 Black Max. Good compression. In the season I owned it cost me several hundred dollars in switch box, stator , coil related problems and the Merc master tech who helped me told me those motors all had those problems repeatedly. He told me what I soon realized on my own. When they are running right nothing stronger in the same power range on the water but they will nickel and dime you to DEATH. I have two good friends that have been boating salt for several decades and have had many boats and motors, rebuild their own motors like you and they both told me stay away from Mercury, can't rely on them and will cost you a fortune over time. I know I will never own another
