Hi and greetings from Finland! I've been reading a huge amount of more and more interesting threads on this great site and community – Lot's of cool projects and valuable information. I thought to start sharing something as well.

Some background info: I was having a bit too bad boat fever last Autumn. I was looking for some Coronet boats (Danish day cruiser designed by Jim Wynne), Bertrams and Chris Crafts. I already had a small fishing boat – 16 foot Tracker. Then I found this baby from Sweden. I wasn't very familiar of v20 models, but immediately when I saw the announcement, I knew that's the one.

It was late November when we took a ferry to Stockholm and came back with a new boat on a trailer. Usually, we have half meter snow cover on the ground on that time of the year, but this winter has been different. The spring is already coming and I started the project on last Sunday. More about that in the upcoming posts. Some pictures:

Interesting trailer rollers.

Tsubaki, I was thinking the same thing. They look like they are spring loaded, so they will conform to the hull shape as the boat comes onto the trailer. Center keel rollers take the weight, and the outboard rollers act as stabilizers. Really neat set up.

Maltsu, welcome to the site. Although you are not the furthest in distance, you are certainly one of the furthest away. In all cases, seeing the smile on your face in that third picture speaks volumes. Great find, and I know you're going to be happy with her.... and it looks like she found a good home. Congrats to both of you.

Since I don't see a cowl in the first pic, I'll go out on a limb and guess it's I/O powered.

Thanks for compliments. As almost always, the boat looks better in the pictures as it currently stands.

About the trailer: I rented that trailer just to transport the boat. I'm not sure yet if I'm gonna buy one, because those are pretty expensive. I need to say, that all equipment are more expensive here than in states. We had some bad luck with that trailer. After we had the boat on the trailer and we were on a half way to harbour in Stockholm I noticed some strange noise. It was the wheel bearing. After that we drove 10-20 mph and luckily got to the ferry and back to Helsinki alive. Anyway, I'm not sure if I like those rollers, but they are useful to fit all kind of boats and hull shapes on the trailer.

Power plant: It's an outboard model, but there's no engine at the moment. My plan is to repower with a decent ~150 hp engine and I have been looking for a used one, but there haven't been many decent ones available on 130-200 hp range. So now I'm negotiating a deal about a new 150 hp Optimax XS (trading in my old boat)! :)

Excellent timing. Welcome to the site..

We got Wellcraft's galore here in the states. You have the 24' Twister and the Argo Cat 22' on your side of the pond. A shame we couldn't get a little freight moving through Helsinki. I really want one but only know of one guy bringing them in and they are real high. I can't afford it either..

Keep up the good work. They are real good and versatile boats.

The way the steps are on the V a 125 horse will get it up on a plane loaded and do less than 30mph but a 150 horse will get it over 40mph.
The general consistence is a 150 horse is about perfect for this hull.

Capt Pete just put a 150 Opti on his dad's V20...they recently wet tested it and are very happy w/the performance...You'll also be happy w/the fuel economy as the Optimax motors are widely known for their fuel sipping characteristics...
Somebody did a nice job redoing your dash board...looks GREAT!
Do you know the condition of the inside of the fuel tank?...hope she's clean and ready for new fuel and take a close look at the vent and filler hoses to the tank...back in 1984 those were not compatible w/alcohol found in most fuels today in the states...are your fuels over there part alcohol?...even if not, make sure all the hoses are in good enough shape to provide your new motor w/top performance.
Thanks for the pics and keep 'em coming as your V20 comes together for you...

Not sure about the condition yet. I actually started by removing the fuel tank hatch and water separator filter. My plan is to renew the whole fuel line, because it doesn't make sense to risk the new motor. The hatch cover core is rotten and will redo that. Tank itself looks quite okay from top, but I'll take it off and check it out. There's some old fuel left in the tank. Pumped out about 10 gallons, but run out of canisters. Some of the fuel lines have been renewed to be compatible with ethanol. Parts of the urethan were bit soft, some were fully dry.

You're on the right track w/fuel lines and all...I've never pulled one of these tanks, but have read enough accounts here of members who have to tell you it's a painful process...unless you are SURE you have to, let me suggest you pump the rest of the old fuel out, remove the sender unit from the top of the tank and use that opening to determine if you can get it clean enough using that opening or if you gotta go ahead w/tank removal...
