LOL Every time I go to one of them I get in more trouble (cause I want to spend lots of money) with my wife than it's worth. So I'll pass.

yup. javits. I cant possibly get into any trouble with spending money because I don't have a pot to piss in. just gonna enjoy watching my 11 year old fisherman run around and play on the boats. he has fun there. for me it's pretty much the same thing year after year but my dad would bring me most every year. a nice bonding afternoon.

I used to go to boat shows, but new boats have gotten so far out of my reach price wise that I don't even care to go anymore.
But that sounds like a good way to spend some quality time with your boy CTT...ogle a few fiberglass beauties for me me while you are there.

last boat show with my pop was a bit tough on him. he has slowed down quite a bit by then but he knew everybody there. my pop was a very large personality. we went with my big guy, he was a couple 2, 3 or 4 years old. we were on one of the bigger boats and the boy disappeared for a few. when asked where he was he told us he went to the bathroom. we high tailed it off that boat real quick. he once did the same thing inside a new boat dealership. I guess when you gotta go, you gotta go.

I noticed at the last RV show I went to (also all priced out of my range) that they had all the toilets taped shut.

I'm with Randle on the prices, not to mention some of what people call style on new boats. I've thought somebody could put together a poor man's boat show and have people drag out all their old boats and stuff and pretty much have a marine garage sale in a big parking lot or something. Charge a fee for a parking spot.

Supply and demand. People start seeing how useful a pick up is and start buying them, so the makers start raising the price because the demand is there. One of my buddies that's in the business told me that they make more profit on a pick up than on any other model. I don't know if that's really true, but judging from the price tag for a new one it sure seems about right.

so we went to the boat show today (Thursday). we got there early because we wanted to beat the snow home. it opened at noon and we were in by 20 after. gotta say, thing gets smaller every year. mako wasn't there this year. regulator is still the king. saw some beauties. the prices are unbelievable. spent a couple hours and we were home by 4pm. the boy got a collection of pens and key floats and he was happy. nice to dream.
cant wait til next year. (eh)

Sorta seems to me that they go hand in hand.. higher prices = less interest = less attendance = less exhibitors. While I completely understand the desire of manufacturers to make money, it's still hard for me to justify a 25' boat at over a hundred grand. So I don't buy new, and I don't go to boat shows. Why torture myself?
