today i winterized my motor and it was very hard to start, when i did get her started it smoked like when you start er after you winterized it plenty of smoke and hard starting, the same thing happened last year and my mechanic said and changed the pulse valve, she ran good bit now it was the same problem do those pulse valves go he said they rarelly go but did you ever here of changing 2 times in one year

new one on me, what is a pulse valve?

i think they are talking about the fuel pump, never heard it called a pulse valve, but it makes sense. can you squeeze the bulb till it gets hard and it doesn't go down? Pull the fuel pump off the block and see if it has fuel coming out of the port

[I] think its also know as a check valve in the oil line that connectto the engine block

i don't believe I've ever seen one of those go bad, not to say they wont't, just never seen one go bad. what color is the smoke

I have heard of the check valve for the air side of an optimax be called a pulse valve. Not anything called that on a carbed merc. Sounds like you might need to clean the carbs and change the plugs.

so it ran good all summer, but when you winterized, the problem began?
what does winterizing consist of?
is that motor oil injected or premix?
