I did today!!! Ok ok here is ho it went down. yesterday I had my boy out deer hunting. I spotted a few deer on the field across from were we had set up. Kalum told me to sneek over and have a look to see if a big buck was around. Skirting the tree line I came upon a little dead bear lying on the side of the field. I thought to myself ( Poor little guy some prick shot and left yea) and I gave him a tap in the head with my boot. HE F@#$ING LOOKED AT ME!!!! I jumped 20 mabie 50 feet up and sideways I have no idea pretty sure I was screaming like a wee girl while doing it. That got my full attention the rest of the way to back to the kid and the truck. We drove over to him and I tosed a pine cone at him he didn't care so I got out. I poked him with my gun he hised at me a little but just wanted to go back to sleep after a few pics with my phone we left. I went back today with a friend and his little girl to see if it was still there and he was. I got out while she took a video and I got layed down and SPOONED the sleepy bear. I then scrached behind his ear and feed him an apple and a few snow balls. I even grabed his upper lip and checked his teeth.

That's just crazy. Now if it were me, the softie side of me would have gone and gotten a bunch of styrofoam blocks and built a shelter around him for the winter.
I know, I know, it's the laws of nature, but dammit, sometimes nature needs a helping hand. Great pics in all cases...

hows the old saying go? Don't wake a sleeping bear? Or better, "hey ya'll watch this, I'm gonna screw with that sleeping bear...." it could end up like those jack link commercials with Sasquatch

I have seen some strange things nature has to offer but that will be in at or near the top for the rest of my days. He had no intrest in trying to get me just wanted to be left alone to sleep. My ex must have been related lay around and sleep all the time real grumpy when disturbed short and flufy. That give a guy an idea why you see some crazy SOB crawling into a den on tv to see if theres a bear in it.
I hear you Destroyer I want to go back out there and build something for him. It's about a 140Km round trip the moral victory would be worth it alone. I might get to go back that direction in a few days.

Maybe use bails of straw instead of foam blocks. He11, just take him home w/ ya and lay him at the foot of your bed. Talk about a conversation piece....a live bearskin rug.

Bails of straw, a plywood roof with a few more bails on it to hold it in place and you're good to go. Great idea Blue!!! Economical, ecological, and non-injurious to the bear or the environment.

Can that be normal? He certainly looked healthy enough from the eyes and mouth and certainly looked comfortable enough but why would a bear sleep like that in the open for two days unless he was sick or injured.

I would say far from normal. Could be a number of things. Hard to speculate. Maybe he is a little on the slow side and didn't realize how sleepy he was actually getting before it was too late. :head:

Crazy! Grizzly moment when you find out that you've exceeded the bears limit of human interaction.

We have a probably to many bears around here. We get two bear tags a year and if you have a good spot easy to get them both in a day. I think he was the smallest one around and all the good spots around were taken by bigger bears. It would be it's first winter away from mom and mabie laft her a little late. I should get out there in the next two days.
Better not start drinking whisky might have a little war on our hands!

Just be careful... it is, after all, a bear. And where's there's one, there's probably more.
