I dug a couple of vintage rods and reels from a garbage pile.

In my discovery was an old reel made by the A.H. Fox Gun Co. circa 1931-32. It is a little beat up but still functions.
Never heard of it, so I Googled it. If it were in better shape it would be worth a lot more as A.H. Fox is a reknown American builder of fine double barrel shotguns. Also scored a Penn reel, Bass Pro IMG8 spinning rod (like new) and a couple of vintage rods. One was made by True Temper. Another rod is Hexagonal, all fiberglass, I think. One half of a rod that appears to be a surf rod (missing the butt end)
Hope to get some pictures up soon so yall can help me to identify what I have.
It all goes on the wall.

Might have been worth millions. If it were I would have sold it for 50 cents and then lost the proceeds in a vending machine or something..:rule:That is how it was written apparently..

I stopped by to see my Uncle who lives at Ocean Isle Beach, NC last week, he showed me 2 Penn Long Beach rods with 209 reels, 3 like new Ugly Sticks, and a Penn inshore rod his neighbor was puttung in the trash about a month ago...he said the Long Beach rods had some green corrosion on them and the other three each had a broken eye...he had cleaned them up and replaced the broken eyes, they all looked brand new.

I have a 7' heavy action Ugly Stick with a Abu Garcia 6501 on it that is my favorite Alabama Rig rod.

But the lighter action US's are too limber for sure.

Time to restart this thread.

I have a few US's .. I love them for freshwater fishing. But my favorite stick for chumming Bluefish is a Daiwa Beef Stick. Funny thing about the rod. I was on a night fishing party boat,..fella near me gets a strike, the rod snaps about 6" inches below the tip.... he gets the fish, takes off the reel, throws the rod on the deck... uses a rental rod for the rest of the night. As we're getting off the boat I pick up the rod and yell to him that he forgot his rod. He says throw the piece of s**t in the garbage. I take it home, cut off the jagged end just below the break, glued on a new tip, married it to a Daiwa 50H reel and it's been a consistent producer of fish ever since. Great action, strong enough backbone to horse in even the heavy 20 lb + chomper Bluefish.

One of my neighbors got evicted and all of his fishing gear made it to the trash, and then to my garage.

My wife was mad but I bet I scored $2k worth of stuff.
