You had a cleaver prop on it? Why would you have a racing prop on a V20?
I'd think that a 17p Alum prop on a 150 would be just about ideal. Perhaps a 15 if you go SS.

Just make sure that it clears the anti-vent plate on your engine. And I'd try to get one to borrow first before plunking down some hard earned bread. make sure it's what you're looking for in your prop. And make sure that your WOT rpms are in the correct range for that prop.

I'm running 150 yamaha 2 stroke with about the same - 14.5 x 17 stainless. It might be 14 x 17? Can't remember but I know it 14 or 14 something x 17. It is perfect to me. Runs up to 5400 RPMs or so. I don't think you'd be happy w/ 15 x 15, but then again I'm no prop man either! Destroyer is right on about try before you buy (if you can).

Yea I agree, I spoke with a yamaha dealer and giving the weight of the V20 he said go with a 14.5 X 17 prop that should be my best bet. So I orderd one $136 it will be in Monday so no fishing this weekend :cen:
any way thanks for all the advise

I had a 15.5 x 17 on my Honda 150...PERFECT...got all the RPMs (6,000) and all...had to drop back to 15.25 dia. to get a rattle out of the lower unit at idle though, but I've been a believer in big diameter props for these deep Vs ever since..the deeper the V, the more resistance through the water...the bigger dia provides more thrust to overcome that resistance...but that's just me...

I use to use the 15x15 and was happy! on both the V and the sea ox. I carried a lot of weight at times and it was great getting out the hole, and just about all, was a little slower on the top end but I was fine with just a few miles hour short!

14.25 x 17p always worked well for my merc 150 on my V. Last prop I had on it was a Rev 4, was perfect.
