Hey guys, I'm thinking about selling the engines that I had on the 248 before I sold her to Skools. However, I have a couple of questions.
The engines are counter rotating. *Could each engine be used by itself? *Here's why I ask. *I'm thinking about only selling one and keeping the other in case I go bracket on my dually. *If I did that, would it make a difference in which one I keep and which one I sell? *Or is the best bet to simply sell them as a pair and buy another engine down the road if I go bracket? *

Hmmm, I have always wondered that myself. Maybe its simply getting a differnt prop. Would like to know myself. ;D ;D ;D

You can use the counter rotator as a single w/ no worries. The only thing that I've ever heard is that the reverse cut gear that makes it rotate the wrong way is just a hair weaker then the regular rotation. That being said, if you were to ever blow the lower unit, just replace w/ a standard rotation and of course the prop.

I'm w/Airslot...it won't matter which way the prop's spinnin'...boat's still gonna go...I'd try to sell as pair 1st for a while, then offer to split...see how it goes... :D...

Thanks again guys.
Hey, would the counter rotating engine respond differently to the steering? Especially going in reverse?
I'll probably take RAP's advice and try selling them as a pair first.

Rev., they're all gonna torque one way or the other...steering tab on foot and steering system (hydraulic or NFS) will off-set either... ;)...

that yr Suzuki had issues sell them both and buy one good yamaha or johnson/evinrude. J/E will work with your current controls and wiring.

Skools, just curious, what are the known issues with them? *
Also, what do you think they could sell for? *I paid close to $4k for the pair less than a year ago and really haven't used them at all. *
Lastly, when you suggest buying a J/E, you're also suggesting I go with a bracket, right? *
Thanks fo your time Skools. *We've missed you!

yeah buy a bracket and go J/E so your current controls will work.
Those Zuks had oil issues and the main bearings were known to go bad alot. they also had electronics issues.
I'd ask $4250 for both with controls and props and take $4000 to get your money back. Then sell your OMC seadrive for $750 to $1000 NO prop or controls and then buy you a bracket and a good V6 J/E 175,200, or 225.
Hope for $5000 out of all 3.
