Yep I just put a rod holder on my truck 2 weeks ago. Much easier then putting the 9' rod in the truck.
Well I stopped at the 7-11 on Cranberry HWy Wareham for gas at 9 pm went in the store to pre pay and bam the rod GONE, not 5min!
Not to accuse anyone but there was a green pick-up at the pumps when I went in and gone when I came out??
Nothing special, a 9' graphpite Daiwa rod, with a brand new 6500 SSV my son just got for me for my B-Day!! My B Day isn't even here till the end of the month! I feel real bad about it and have to tell my son today, he thought he was doing good for me this year as I have no boat anymore and this is the only way for me to fish now.
O well I am having a port put in my arm next week, so I can start Dialysis in Aug. so maybe this is a good thing cause I won't be out getting in trouble.

I seriously think petty theft ought to be punishable by shooting, it would make me feel better anyway

On the P.D we call them two leggers MJ. Scum, upright walking animals.
They are everywhere nowadays.

I just told my son his $200 B-Day gift was great!! But I never got to use it! Not even once!! He said I know you have no boat and stuff so I got it for you to have some fun, he said he does not have the cash to replace it right now but will save some and try to get another. I told him not to worry about it, not sure how much I be going out any way, but thanked him for a great gift and offer to replace!! But he is living alone at the old house and has to pay bills and he took over my truck payments also. So he is not exactly rolling in $$$
When he is a good kid he is great!! and I love him to death, but when he has the rag on I want to disown him!! He was here today putting all 32 windows from my 3 season room away for the summer for me. I got them all out and YEARS of dirt washed off them in the past few weeks.

sorry mj, probably not much would happen, but does the store have cameras on the pumps? lots have them to prosecute drive offs. i've had friends in miami who had them stolen out of rod holders on their boats while sitting at red lights. kids come by on ten speed bikes, snatch & grab.

That was also suggested on a local site I go to here, I called the store and they said they can't do nothing till the manger comes back on monday, but the tapes are most likly a loop and will be taped over by then. I am calling the Cops to see if they will go and look for me sooner?

Thanks everyone!! They will get there's!! As far as them getting caught this time, I really don't care, just like to get my stuff back! The reel meant a lot as my son works his A$$ off as a Landscaper by day and a Bouncer by night. works 7 days a week! and it was a great gift as, I have been wanting one!!

Man I hate that for you bro.....
I learned my lesson the hard way as well unfortunately. My buddies give me a hard time for throwing everything inside the truck before we go into the store but it just isnt worth taking the chance. I cant afford to replace it nor do I feel like chasing some POS down in 90+ heat.....
Karma is a SOB, he'll get his.....In the meantime just try to convince yourself he stole it to catch fish to feed his family. Thats the only way I got over mine......essentially lying to myself, haha

That really SUCKS! I hope the police can turn up something on the store tapes for you. My Dad always told me " Give them enough rope and they'll hang their self ", but sometimes it takes a hell of alot of rope. I believe in Karma, hopefully they'll get theirs someday! Good Luck on recovering your rod and reel!

Sorry to hear that - I just don't understand taking other people's property.
I just had a cover stolen off one rear trailer light - at ramp off the Delaware River.
Only way to get it off is to unscrew it. For all I know, If I hadn't returned back after just a quick test ride - they would have stolen the entire light assembly.
And there were people milling around before and after I launched..............

Ouch.. I know exactly how you feel MJ. Same thing happened to me in front of my mothers house. Small, well kept development in an upscale part of town. I had just come from a night of surf fishing, parked there with my rods in the beach buggy holders. Came out an hour later and 4 rods and reels were gone. Two 13 foot sticks an 11 and an 8. What made it even worse was a neighbor saw some kids walking with them.. but wouldn't tell me their names.. just in case I wanted to kill them ( I did). He died of pancriatic cancer 4 months later so I never found out who the kids were. But I know exactly how you feel. Violated, mad, upset, sad, etc...all rolled into one. The best I can tell you is to think of it as a learning experience... never leave something you don't want taken anywhere where it can be taken, because you can bet it will be. Truly sorry for your loss.

Dang MJ, you remind me of the guys on Hee Haw....If it wornt for bad luck, youd have no luck at all....
Definately report it to the cops....often times they find stuff and if they have a good description, they might get it back to you....long shot, but they wont for sure if you dont report it.
And if you live in a small enough town, they will get the vidoe from the store.

Give a man a fish and he'll eat for a day
Teach him to steal and he can support a meth habit for life :(

Last week I heard a car running in my shop at work, went out back to see which crew had showed up and what they were grabbing. Behold this massive zombie and his trailer trash girl loading up a generator into his Cherokee. I say "put that down!" and they take off in the jeep, I chase them ou tthe gate.
I got the license plate #. Call the cops, business across the street has it all on tape. Cops come they say plate matches vehicle, have an address, and car owner is a frequent guest downtown. They bring me a photo lineup but they all were great big zombies to me so I picked one.
Next day the guy shows up at a pawn shop where my guys are doing some work on the parking lot. Same guy that had followed one of my guys to the shop the day prior who was bringing the generator back. My guys call the cops, cops swarm in and call me. Say "we need you here to identify now." I'm 15 minutes away. GET THIS, THEY CAN"T HOLD THEM (black guy, white girl, in same vehical with same tag) THAT LONG WITHOUT CAUSE!!!
I get there in 7 minutes, make the ID, they arrest them both.
Moral of the story is, without incredible stupidity on the crooks part, crime pays and the system doesn't care.

Now for the tough part....I thought it was one of my new $1500 generators, turns out its one of the new $500 generators. Police report says $1500 and without correction this is now a felony rather than a misdemeanor.
I'm just going to let the courts work out the value of the generator.
Sorry for your loss MJ

Well MJ I know how you feel. On a recent business trip to Asheville, NC, I was at a Hampton in in a very nice area and someone broke into my rental car and stole my personal GPS that my sons bought me for my B-day about 5 years ago.
It was an older unit, so I was upset, but I knew making a police report and claiming insurance would not pay off, so I just let the hotel know about it so they could be aware and maybe increase their security watches.
I put this under live and learn and on my way home I was sitting in the airport, next thing I got a call from the hotel, they were looking at their security cameras and saw something strange, they were actually looking for something else, but saw two people going car to car. The hotel called the police and the suspects were IDed immediately and they were picked up. :pic:
The next phone call I received was the local police and we went through my GPS and cords, all recovered and returned.
