Hello everyone, my name is Adam and I just joined wellcraftv20.com. I just bought my first boat last week and can honestly say I am extremely happy with it! It's a 1988 Wellcraft V20 CC with a 1998 Yamaha 150 Saltwater Series II that runs like a top. Glad to be here, here are some pics..

Thanks a lot everyone!! Extremely happy with the boat and motor package. Still getting used to a couple things, like correct trim, and trim tab placement (hard left turning at speed, easy right) But I am very happy with the handling of this boat, and I'm happy to be here!

That hard steering left is just a function of the rotation of the prop. If you still have your original steering cable thats normal. If you upgrade your steering to at least no-feedback helm or of you got the dollars for hydraulic it will help with that alot.

RWilson.. I actually do have hydraulic steering. Also, I noticed one afternoon out that it became noticeably easier when I correctly adjusted my trim upon coming on plane, which is why I am led to believe that it is actually user error on my part with incorrect trimming and also possibly the trim tab needing to be adjusted a bit. Still getting used to the boat, but so far it's a blast!

Sweet looking Rig!
When planing off have the engine trimmed down and then trim up some once on a plane. You'll learn to find the "sweet spot" where she runs the best and gets the best fuel mileage and best ride.

I have that on mine, I call it Armstrong power steering. Made by the same people who made my windlass.

Sweet CC, slick!!...that's a nice one for sure!!...to lighten up the steering(both directions), trim the motor up a little more...all of 'em I've ever had there is a certain trim level on the way UP that loosens the steering...I consider it properly trimmed when the wheel loosens up...then you'll wanna trim back down in turns and coming outta the hole...
Welcome to V20.com...we try to have a lotta fun around here and learn all we can...nice to see a new member can post pictures like that!!...not yer 1st rodeo, huh??...

And thanks Bradford and Reel for the insight! Definitely something I am going to work on. And Reel, I've got a wee bit of experience under my belt with forums; that, or the fact that I always believe that :thre:

Welcome and that boat is a head turner for sure. Love it. I have the same motor and hydraulic steering and what they said is right on the money. Trimmed all the way down it steers hard to one side. Keep trimming up and you'll feel it get easier....and get increased RPMS and fuel economy like they said. :nic:
