How far ( out ) have you run your V for fishing or cruise ?
Can't say I've run my V21 far out, but do run the ocean up and down NJ coast a good distance.
Maybe 50 miles or so in one day.

I do not any more because of gas cost and old age, but for many years I ran my 83 v20 /175 evenrude 30/40 miles offshore ,trolled for 4 hrs and came home with a safe supply of gas. I did this once or twice a week for over 20 yrs. she ALWAYS brought me in sometimes in weather I would like to forget. Not to say I didnot sometimes have to tinker a little and coax a little. this was out of ocean city md

That's quite impressive - what's the " biggest fish " you ever caught out there ?

10 miles offshore was the furthest for me, thats a log way from land!! Around here you are good till noon most days but no matter what the day is like at noon if catching fish or not you head back toward land!! The afternoon wind can pick up and your flat water gets nasty!
Going along the coast I have gone many miles with my 175 and always was great time!
Biggest fish on the V was a 300# Blue Shark while Cod fishing.

Wow - a 300lb blue shark - big. I assume released ? Not edible right.
Only Mako's really worth eating.

yes released, but I have caught a 10' Mako also but not on my boat, thats when a friend started calling me Mako Joe. I did not have a computer at the time, but when I did Mako was taken so thats when I came up with Macojoe and here I am! But while out Cod fishing we have caught many many sharks of that size and bigger

Wow how many gallons of fuel did you use? I know I don't have that kind of range with my 350 i/o.

Garage has me beat, good to know I'm not the only one that ventures out that far but for me it was 50 miles out of Beaufort Inlet in North Carolina to the Gulf Stream. I had to bring 30 gallons in 5 gallon jugs for that trip. 160 miles round trip at a burn rate of 2.1 MPG.

Depends on what I am fishing----
Halibut is 38 miles one way off the coast for me
Salmon generally closer in, onshore to 20 miles out--
Tuna is anywhere from a 40 to 65 mile run each way plus trolling--I have had over 180 miles in a day Tuna fishing.

Ok make that 45 miles after this season. It was a bottom trip so the burn was less. Around 35 - 40 gallons.

I believe an old member who I haven't seen on in a while Lesterus, used his V20 during the Mariel boat lift from Cuba and also went to Bimini a few times too. The Bimini trips had a thread somewhere on here with pics.

Had the pleasure on my Wellcraft V20 cc (1986) doing the length of Chesapeake Bay, from north to south and back. Other than a crab pot hung on lower unit and heavy wind thru Kedge Straits went without incident. Camped uninhabited islands only to be waken by high tide at tent. Smith Island and Crisfield worth the layover. Windsurfing and fishing excellent !

We normally would go 20-30 miles out in the GOM of Louisiana. Which isn't that big of a deal considering the amount of Oil field Traffic out there. As long as you had your safety devices, VHF, Epirb someone is going to find you if somthing happens.
