View Full Version : Lifting points on a 1996 200 Evinrude

Getting started on spring projects. Any idea on where to hook on to this motor to remove it from a transom. My old Yammie had a lifitng ring.

$70, GEEZ! I just use a short section of chain and 2 grade 5 bolts tightened down in the flywheel to lift them off.

yup that worx too.... I have a set that fits all sorts of motors that didn't cost me $70 and I would make my own for a one time thing (which I think the one in the link is also home made) but it gives you the idea... I have also used multiple ratchet straps to rig up a sling before too but that CAN be risky.

That is what I was thinking when I didn't see a lift ring on the motor. I have the bolts I used to remove the flywheel. Grab a piece of chain off the tractor and I'm good to go.

Blue...even when I had a good back I could never do that. But I am pretty good at lift 12oz at a time....practice makes perfect!:) I did watch a friend lift a small block chevy (heads and water pump and flywheel) into the back of a pick up. That was impressive.

That makes 2 of us! LOL I can even do 16oz! But it took a lot of practive to get to that level.
