Assuming comparing dry solid hulls, wonder how much weight the V21 transom can support given the well / transom format.

Boat was rated for 200hp in 1996, usually rigged with Yami's so I suppose I'll just look up the weight of the 96' carb'd Yami for the answer.

For repowering, I'll assume the same or lower weight is preferable.
Etec or DFI is around 525 lbs while my 96' Rude 150 is only about 380lbs.

Ok so 96' 200Yami at 419 lbs
96' 200Evinrude was 455 lbs

Newer motors
Opti and HPDI under 500lbs ...........but the Evinrude DFI or Etec at 525 lbs
is 75 -105 lbs heavier that what the V21 was originally spec'd for.

So question is - did Wellcraft build the transom well design to handle a lot more weight or did they cut it close.

I don't know anyone who's reported disassembling the V21 transom completely to report on structural integrity.

Look up my post on repairing the deck of my 96. I think there's a pic in there of the transom. I wasn't too impressed with the way that they attached the engine well to the transom. That being said, my engine (91' 200 Merc @ 410 lbs) hasn't fallen off, and I don't know of anyones that has..... so I guess they know more than me.
