How long does the effects of a cortisone shot last?

Hi guys went to my Doc today after having some xrays --he said my hips look good but im still in alot of pain in my right side---he asked if i wanted to try cortisone shot i said why not--he also said there inflamation around it and by having the shot it will frree up my joint

Has anyone had and luck with them

2-3 months is about how long it lasts for most, only gave me about 30-40 days of relief when I had one in my shoulder. Be careful with them as they can cause buildup in your joints if you get to many of them, and I wouldn't get the one with steroids in it either. Fo me I just had to learn to deal with it after my stomach got ate up from pain pills.

Ok not sure what one he gave me but feeling alot more flexible today---with the pain meds im taking 3 x panidine forte ans 1 20mg oxycontin been on panadine forte for 20 years i get 120 pills with 3 repeats i really want to break away from the pills---As for my stomach anti flams use to give me bad heart burn and alot of foods as well--it ended up being a infection in my stomach that only can be checked by a camera down your throat or a breath test ending up having 3 types of anti biotics for 3 weeks now i can eat any thing again---with the steroids i had too much in my body when i was 30 that why i have so many health issues now

I had the scope done of both ends when I was 25, and I had the stomach infection. Treated it and I was good for about 5 years, but now it's slowly coming back. It's to the point now I can't drink sweet tea which was one of my favorite drinks(it's a southern USA thing to drink sweet tea, it's like our crack. and it SUCKS to not be able to drink it nymore), and if something has any kind of spice to it forget about it.

same here even different brands of cola killed me maybe tht infection is back like said there a breath test now to check it--i think i got mine years ago got food piosioning from a chineese restraunt that i think i got mine

I'll have to go in and ask about it as I just got insurance back last month.

go in and ask you doc to give you a coarse of pills and be done with it ---if he says no:fight:then:nut:
