Can I take my boat off the trailer

I have a question. Can I take my boat off the trailer or how do I take it off. I have a wellcraft suncruiser 255. I need to do this for two reasons, first the trailer needs some work. Second I would like to take the antifouling paint off the bottom. This brings up a second question regarding the antifouling paint, do it need it? The boat is not kept in the water.

If not kept in water you dont need bottom paint. Although the work required to strip the existing paint back to pristine condition is a chore from what I have seen so you might want to paint it again just to make it look good. Friend of mine just had his boat done with a white bottom paint and it looks pretty good up on the trailer.

As far as getting it off the trailer do a quick search, its been talked about tons. I've done it a couple of times and its pretty easy.

with my v, i just tie it off and pull the trailer out, stopping halfway to block up the front but your boat is borderline too big for that... my 28'er is off of the trailer right now setting on 4 boat stands that I rented from a local marina.

Tie the back of the boat to something solid. Begin pulling your trailer out from under it for about five feet. Now block the keel up and also block the sides to hold it upright. Pull your trailer on out until its right at the bow curve. Throw some blocks on under it and pull it out the rest of the way. Make sure you have it blocked good before getting under it. Bottom paint is a royal pain in the a$s. Try the Aircraft stripper and a pressure washer after it has sat for ten minutes. The other option is to sand and scrape it off.

Thanks for the info. I think I just might keep the paint or repaint as suggested. At some point in the summer I will put the boat in the water and just fix the trailer then. With my luck the boat would fall off the blocks, LOL. I will be back for lots more advice as this boat needs it. Currently the boat has ceramic tiles and kitchen cabinets in the cabin. The sun pad looks sort of strange and out of place. It will be lots of fun. I have waited 40 years for this.

I have a quick question for Smokeonthewater (or anyone who might know), as you have a cruiser and most likely will have an idea. What kind of performance do you think I can expect from my boat. It has a 5.7 and a 15x17 prop and is about 4500 lb? Near as I can figure 30 mph WOT?

I know you guys hear this all the time and I bet it's a real newbie question, LOL
