Not sure If I posted these. Cut out rotten wood, raised the transom from 20" to 25" and hung a new etec, Which is awesome by the way!!

Real nice, Wolf. I was hesitant to attempt raising my transom and it was still solid, so I just glass-capped it but I wish I had raised it. I guess if your gonna go all out with new power, it only makes sense to do it right and raise it. And from your pictures it doesn't look like it was that bad of a project. Like a brand new boat!

I am very happy and impressed with the etec. I have put about 80 hrs on it. It runs about 44.5 mph WOT. The great thing is it gets 4 mpg from 25 mph to 37mph. I have made a few 100 mile fishing trip and I average 5 mpg. I have access to many 4 strokes and have run all of them. They just don' have the same response and smooth operation as the 2 strokes.

As for the Etec's yall get back to me when you get closer to 400.....I hope you never have a problem but my mind got changed from them to the Yammy 4-stroke real quick......

Wow, that conforms that my next big purchase will be an E-Tec. I can get up to 2.3 on my 100 mile trips. I was just in in the Florida Keys and saw an awful lot of really nice rigs with E-tecs hanging off the back. I have to believe overall its a very reliable engine given that environment and the year round use. If there was a problem word would spread fast down there and you wouldn't be seeing them on guide boats.

Well if it helps, all the guides here hate em:laugh:

They've been changed on 4 boats that I know of alone. Best of luck with it though.....

If anything just make sure you have someone in your area that can do warranty work on em........and learn his name, hehe. They need a specific computer for diagnostics, etc.........
