I really enjoyed seeing roadkingcoles trip pics.I always enjoy looking at peoples pics from where they've traveled so I thought I'd put some up from our trip out west a couple of years ago.We put over 5k miles on a rental and saw alot of what I'd always wanted to see and met some great people. The country impressed me so much that we plan on retiring to Montana in a few years.

Very cool pics, thanks for sharing. When I was in Jackson I went on the wagon ride through the elk preserve. The guide said the boyscouts in Jackson have more money than any other den in the nation from the money they get collecting and selling the antlers. If anybody is caught trying to take them they get a massive fine.

If those indians would get off the sauce they may be able to finish that mountain one day.

Never been there but I always wondered why they didn't clean the rock debris away from the bottom of Mt Rushmore.

They do get rid of alot of the rock at the base.I have 2 pieces of it as bookends in my house. There are a several big wooden boxes close to the exits that they fill each day with the rocks and they are free. When we were there I met Ruth Ziolkowski, the wife of Korczak Ziolkowski, and her daughter Ann who has since passed away.A couple from Rapid City had made a multi-million dollar donation to the foundation and that day there was a blast on the mountain. The foundation doesn't take any money from the Gov't because they don't want to be under any types of pressure or influence from the Gov't.. because they rely soley on donations, the work is slow.
I also got to meet Ed Mcgaa while I was there. He is a full blooded Oglala Soiux Indian who was also a fighter pilot in the Viet Nam war and Flew over 100 missions. He Wrote a book about Crazy Horse that is a very good read.
The North American Indian museum is also at the site and it takes about 2 hours to go through if you look at all of their displays. My property is the site on one of the British Military encampments during Dunmores War (1774) and I've been very interested in Indian history for many years now so visiting Crazyhorse Mountain was a special stop.

VERY cool Jeff. Some of those shot look almost like they were taken from the air. Impressive landscape out there. I love the rivers.

Our great country -- so much to see! Yellowstone is simply amazing. I haven't been to Gunnison or Ouray since the '80s (holy crap, I'm getting old). Great to be reminded of them. Our National Parks are tremendous. In the last dozen or so years we've been to Acadia, Smokies, Yellowstone, Yosemite, Glacier and Denali. They're spectacular!

Let me know if you decide to plan a trip. I can share what were our best and worst moments, what to do and see and maybe what to skip, where to stay and such. For the best accomodations, plan a year in advance, especially for Yellowstone and Glacier. We did Glacier this time last year. If I had to sum up in one word: dramatic. The wildlife, the scenery, the weather -- all spectacularly dramatic. I want to go back.

Thanks, Not sure when will will do either trips. The yellowstone\glacier park may be a cross country trip, probably after I retire which could be 10 years from now or tomorrow :oh:

Would like to do denali by ourselves, but may end up on one of those cruise packages.

I read about that.I'm HOPING that when we make it out there that we'll have a camper type van to stay in if we need to.You never quite know how close you are to a hotel or camping site with such long travel distances out there.

When we visited Yosemite, we stayed at a hotel in Maraposa. It was not that long of a ride to the park (esp on a bike).
