Any rope will work. Different colors will make it "pop". You can get it at any hardware store or boat store.

Good question and what type ? I too am going to do this mod. I thought 5/8' polly prop would work ??

Braided Nylon, Poly will not work as it is not UV rated and will rot! 5/8 is about right, but make sure you put it in and then let it sit a few days before cutting the extra off, its going to stretch when pulling it to get on, and be to short when it shrinks after a few days of relaxing. een there done that!!

Ditto Home Depot I use the Yellow, soak the entire rope in soap water if not is a PIA to install...Mine is due for a change since I did not secure the ends and it shrunk six inches on both ends > lesson learned not too tight and secure the ends using the existing hardware or new ones.

I always wanted to do this!!...and have the lights CHASE around the boat...it would look like a freakin' UFO cruisin' across the water...I remember seein' Capt Pete cruisin across Charleston Harbor one night w/his under water stern lights on...looked like spongebob was riding on a cushion of LIGHT...add CHASING LEDS to that and you'd have a helluva show at night...
