Damm, right here in my own back yard. Why do all the sweet deals happen after you get something. I would have hopped on this baby in a heartbeat.

Hammer that is always the way. One of the other boats I really liked when I was looking around was the older Bertram Moppie. A fellow near by had one that he had restored and it was one of the nicest boats I have ever seen. Could not find one in anything but total restoration needed condition and even then for a good chunk of change.
Well feeling high as a kite, finally brought home Old School and running around getting things squared away on it I go down to a local hardware store and there in the parking lot is the restored Moppie with a for sale sign on it. $2500.00 more than what I had paid for my boat.
I think they call it LIFE :-/

Yeah man I agree with. Life is a real knocker sometime. Even now, I found a new shipwreck to dive, but it lies in the seperation zone in the Delaware Bay. Besides the tankers being in my way, the current rips through there like cars on I-95.

Hammer, I found my boat before it was forsale. I knew the owner was getting close 'cause he was working on a bigger boat. I went to his house one afternoon when I just had to have it. I asked if he was ready to sell and he repilied "not yet." I whipped out a big ole stack of fresh hundreds and said "how 'bout now." He got the title and we did the deal right then. True story. I took the boat home when wifey was out and left a dozen roses on the bow and went back to work. She threw the roses at me but she got over it.

Buddy of mine just whipped in a guy's driveway and asked if he was ready to sell a boat he had his eye on for years. A 1991 19ft Grady White tournament in pristine condition. Garage kept with full enclosures that had never been put on!

Guy said, yeah I'll sell it tonight. And so he bought it.

Boat does look very clean in the pictures. *I see stripe remnants -- did he paint over the stripes, or just not get the glue off? *It also looks a little uneven just below and around starboard scupper thru-hull.

Now maybe I'm looking too hard, or it's just the photo resolution, but I'm thinking I see bottom paint under that white paint.

Sign me,
Skeptic

Follow up: I went to his "high-resolution" photos, and for whatever reason they aren't any better, at least on my poor ol' computer. But there's a definite ghost stripe.

Pipe. You're not imagining things. That boat has been repainted and he just went over everything. Even up on the underside of the rubrail. The gray color is the tipoff.

Emailed the guy and said the stripes and Wellcraft decal were removed a few years ago. The boat has never been repainted and always been kept on the trailer. Floor and transom are solid.

But then again, when I bought my boat off of E-Bay, I was told it was turn key as well.

I don't believe it for one minute. Why is the hull gray and the topsides white? Why does the underside of the rubrail got gray spray paint on it? Look at the pics in his link. ::)

I dunno, CB...can see the ''shiny'' areas where the stripes used to be...looks like mine after I pulled the stripes off and B4 removing the oxidation...and for the life of me, I can't find the gray paint in those pics... :D...

Shadow spot making it look gray ??? As far as the rub rail being white, is it possible for rub rails to come in white ??

chumbucket

Maybe it's just me, but I'm seeing the hull below the rubrail as a different color than the coaming and liner above the rubrail.
Do you really believe they made that rubrail (the solid rubber base portion) in two different colors? The underside matches the hull color.
Hey, don't let me stop anyone from bidding on it, but trust me when I say, that boat is not as nice as it's reported to be. Bad gas that just needs to be run out? How many times have I heard that one? I learned my lesson years ago and heard all the stories.
Have at it guys. :-X

Boat was seen today. Sitting at the repair shop. Dont know for what though. I did check out the hull and she is a virgin bottom and was never painted. The white rub rails appear to be factory. Solid floor and transom. Winning bid of $4400.00 is slightly high, but the boat isnt that bad looking.

Spoke to the boat repair guy today and questioned him wht the V-20 was here for repairs. He says he has no idea why the boat is here on his lot. It must have been dropped off in the night. He doesnt have a clue as to who owns. Hmm, a parts boat maybe ;D ;D
