New floundering setup

My buddy ordered these LED's and they are AWESOME. Way better than the halogens we were running and now without a generator running all night. I built the frame out of 1/2" black iron. We will eventually do aluminum but wanted something cheap to start with in case we want to make any changes.

We may come back later with two underwaters but as for now they are bright.

We have jugged at night for catfish and floundered over the past several weeks with them.

Cool looking setup. Where did he get the leds from? I think those would make great lights for on an arch.

There ya go. They would be great for that...no battery draw. We can run 6 on one battery for 8 hours easy.

Dont let the fact they are from China bother you. We got them in about 2 weeks and they are VERY well made. Cooling fins on the back are cast and powder coated. They weigh about 2lbs apiece. Very sturdy construction.

bought some about that size but round, going to add to the hard top as spreader lights, to replace the battery drawing ones that are there now!

How about some more details - are these 12v just connected straight to a deep cycle battery or is there an inverter? How many amp hours is the battery that will run 6 for 8 hours? And finally, where can I get some?!

Stinky_Hooker gave a link to where he bought them, its at the bottom of the 3rd post. The website says 12V, 27W, so that's around 2.25A (for each spotlight, they come 6 to a set. Doesn't look like you can buy just one). If you're running all six at once, that's 13.5A or 108 Ah (Amp-Hours) over 8 hours...

Be aware that the Ah rating applies either for a specific discharge rate, over a specific time. If you exceed the discharge rate, then you'll get less Ah out of the battery. So YMMV depending on the battery.

Yes link is up. They are wired together and then just plugged straight to one Stowaway DC. I cant remember which battery he has but its a large dual purpose trolling/DC.


I just know @ around 7.5-8 hours we were noticing a slight and I mean SLIGHT dimming. When I got home I checked voltage and it had dropped to just under 11.5. This is pretty well running steady without cutting them off as we will use them to navigate if the moon isnt out to bright.

With two batteries you could go on a couple trips easy without recharging.

We will generally watch conditions and pick a time period to flounder with some fishing around dock lights in between but on a couple occations we have gigged from dark till sunrise. It is so much more pleasant and less exhausting not listening to the generator or having to stop and refuel or smell the fumes all night.

oh , you kids got it made, i remember the coleman lantern days. you ought to try changing a mantle in the dark on a cold windy night.

It doesnt take us long to get our 2 limits most nights. Sometimes we have to work a little garder (like the all nighters) but not all the time.

Been keeping an eye out for years for a better situation and I think you found it Stink.

Added these to a couple of boats I gig with. Easily adaptable for various things and nothing in the way when not needed.

I finally got to check them out on the computer and i like them. I wish they were sold in twin packs.

The only thing that bothers me is they are made in China AND are not cheap! :haha:

But they do have a 3 year warranty.

The only comparable lights I have found are coastalnightlights.com

I searched "waterproof led lights" and came up with the same company but different supplier/shipper.
You could get one but the shipping was about $30 and the light was about $25.
