Gunnel Rod Holders

I have a 96 V21 with rotting plastic rod holders, the gunnel incerts. Might anyone know if the are still available for replacement, if so, where.

Exact replacements not available from Wellcraft anymore for sure. Repair is the most common fix if they are not too bad...fiberglass the backs and paint and they come out pretty good. (never thought about flipping them but thats a good idea too!)....Other option is Ebay and other marine stores and find a set as close the hole opening as possible plus a little bit and enlarge your openings to fit. They can be found pretty inexpensive sometimes.

You might want to replace with stainless. I am, as the plastic ones don't fit my bait table. This guy has them for pretty cheap. A couple people on thehulltruth have bought from him and say the quality is fine. Just a thought.

I removed mine,then 1st repaired any of the cracks with glass cloth and resin.after that I added glass cloth and resin on all of the backsides of the outer retainer edges where the screws hold them in place.then I reinforced the backsides of the top,botton and sides of each box with wide pieces of cloth and resin.I sanded the retainer edges and any other spots that needed it then painted them up with a white textured spray paint.
It amazed me but they turned out looking pretty good after i installed new teak trim on each of them.
I'd like to find rubber inserts for the rod holder holes to protect the rods.

Hey - I've got a 96 V21 too .............

The plastic gunnel holders, yup, they dry out over time and are prone to cracking when screwing back into place. I removed mine, cleaned, used a 2 part putty combo on front and rear of cracks, sanded, spray painted, and re installed with non permanent sealant.
Lots of ways to repair these, depending on condition and such.
