It's not a bad idea. Basically, he's putting some extra mass between the screws and the hull, so the screws don't go into the hull gellcoat and fiberglass.....not a bad idea really. But truthfully, $60 for some epoxy and a 3x4 inch piece of starboard is a little pricey for my blood. I wonder how a piece of Teak would work? :head: I'm sure there are other materials that will work just as well, and for a cheaper price. In all cases I'm going to try to mount my 2 transducers inside my hull and shoot thru the bottom.

The ironic thing is, is that nothing sticks to starboard so you will notice the holes they fill with epoxy are threaded to make a formed bond not a chemical bond. The only chemical bond is to the boats gelcoat. I have some starboard laying around and will probaly be doing this to my rig. cool Idea MJ

I agree with you Destroyer, But I have a ton of small scrap starboard here and always looking for a use for it!! I used it in the bildge for the new bilge pumps, this way i no drill into the hull, and i hate to put wood in there to rot. iknow nothing glues starboard, not well any way, but if you drill hols in it and then thread it like they did you should be fine.
hey it a new use for all them scraps i have!
