Personally I think it is a match made in heaven for a V-20. They normally dyno around 160HP to the prop, and are fairly lightweight for a 4 cylinder 4 stroke. You will probably need a differrent prop for it though.

Hope the above link helps you w/prop choice...when i went to a 150 Honda back in '04, I had help from a Honda Factory Tech...wound up w/a 15 1/4D X 17P 3 Blade made for Honda by Power Tech Props...and I believe you should be looking in that spec range on yours...
ONE THING yer gonna notice about this re-power is vibration...as in the LACK OF IT...ya don't really notice it til it's gone...will never forget it...felt like I had stepped into a NEW BOAT...
Take the camera w/you when you splash the new power cuz we wanna see...we wanna see!!...

I found a dealer that will validate my warranty even if I do the install. There will be plenty of pics of the installation :sun:

You can do the install, but do not start it yourself. Make certain that a CERTIFIED YAMAHA dealer does teh PDI and first start if you want it to have a warranty. And if the dealer your dealing with is ED's then I believe they got in trouble for selling engines and not performing the PDI's there.

That does not sound like fun at all. I am afraid if i just bought a new motor i would find someway to be the first one to start it. Even if i have to super glue the key to my hand. :you:

It's all about the warranty. Think of how many people out there who will start a new engine without double checking everything. And in all reality, most outboards are ran before they leave teh factory now. I know BRP runs every ETEC at the factory to make sure they dyno high enough and everything is up to par before it ever goes into a shipping crate. If you want to be the first to start it, then your going to have to build it yourself.

I would think...and HOPE all outboard mfgrs start and run their motors on completion...would be disappointed to find one that didn't...and if it's a matter of jeopardizing the warranty...here's the key Mr Tech..have at it...I'll have lots of opportunities down the road...

the f150 is a sweet motor. If you need a hand with the command link setup or anything just let me know. I deal with that stuff on a daily basis. What dealer are you gonna use? I work for a Yamaha dealer also.

I am back in Shore Acres, north side of Kettle creek right just passed the Shore Acres Yacht club at the end of drum point. There's a V20 that looks just like yours on the island where my slip is, thought maybe it was you!
