well, all in all i guess we made a day out of it. we had three trout up to the boat that were lost. missed about 15 hits witch could've been any kind of fish. landed 6 sharks that were all undersized, 2 undersized redfish, 3 gaph tops, 7 trout- (the reason you only see 6 is because we left one in the ice chest on accident) and a jack. my middle son that you see in the pic caught the biggest speck! ;D

Your buddy LIED!!! :o They are the bloodiest meat around besides maybe bonita. :o

Bon Appetite! :-X

At any rate, nice trip...they are fun to catch. Last one I caught one on a Ambassabor 5500 and 12lb line...45 minute fight and 36lbs.

Naw dragon, save him for shark bait - really! *The surf fishing guys that target sharks use the jacks alot with good results *;) I don't shark fish but from the sound of your reports I take it you do?

Also Stink, careful calling bonita trash fish - its false albacore that you are talking about. *Looks very similar to bonita but false albies are terrible on the table and bonita is excellent! * *;)

Yeah, JACK CREVALLE is pretty rough. I've tried smokin it, frying it, and baking it. I've blead it and soaked it, marinated the crap out of it. Still couldn't stomach it.

Nice day of fishing.

Sounds like Jack's are good crab bait.

Jacks make good cut bait.Strip out the meat and salt the meat side with kosher salt then pack away in vacuum bags. If you insist on eating them try this;
Rub the felit with good extra virgin olive oil.
Liberally coat with salt,pepper Old Bay seasoning.
Place on a soaked Cedar plank over good hot coals, cover and let smoke for 30 minutes.
Take the plank off the grill, throw the fish in the garbage and eat the plank. ;D :D ;D :D ;D

As CROCODILE DUNDEE would say "You can live on it, but it tastes like dung" ;).

And you will want a batch of rubba biscuits to go with the plank.

Bow bow bow.

Mobile Bay stays FULL of jacks this time of year....and all through the summer. I hook em often when trout fishing...just hold the spool with your thumb and turn your head. ::)

round here they come in pretty thick in the fall. i have been fishin at moses pier and hear someone yell out "JACKS" and lines start peeling, reels start smokin, and everyone on the pier reelin in thier lines as fast as they can! it's almost funny, i have never seen so many people tryin so hard NOT to catch a fish!
