now i'm interested! since this is my first post i might as well go ahead and introduce myself. my name is george and i live in brick. my v is a 1987 cuddy with its original fully restored 1987 yamaha 150etxh. the boat was originally my fathers, he bought it when i was sixteen, and i've been working on it doing upgrades little by little since then:party:

Two things...post up some pics of that '87 and join in the fun at the Raft-Up!!...you won't regret either!!...

The V20 is ready to go... might not be the prettiest boat there, but she's seaworthy. Trying to get the V21 ready for the raft up... want to show off my baby. Just so many things left to do and so few weekends left to do them in... but we're trying...we're trying.

Oh, and ask Wellcraftv20step... we've actually met, so he can vouch for me that I really do exist. :you:

July 21 will work for me too. Can't wait. Hopefully I will have my dad's V20 done by then. I also recently talked my nephew into a V20 . So that should make us three strong. I'm down for some fishing and stuff on the Thursday and Friday before but Sunday we are heading to Waterfest. My boat is getting wet by the end of this week. Too many people coming in with stripers. I gotta get some.

Dude.. just come down... I'm sure that either Willy, RW or myself will have room on their boat for another person. I'd firm it up right now if I could state positively that I'll be there, but with the necessary work to be done on the boat, and the buying of a new house and moving and such I just don't know... I'm gonna try like hell to be there but I can't promise anything right this second.... But I'd love to have you along if I get my boat ready in time.

What is the actual town and hotels available?

Not sure if you NE boys remember the dialogue from last year but if you are looking to do the trip on the cheap my family stays at a campground for the weekend that is right there on the bay....they have cabins for rent (large and small) as well as tent sites....We will be there again this year....going to leave the dog at home (as much as he wanted to hang on lumbers boat again) because he really put a cramp in our ability for hanging out other than on the boat. Its called Cedar Creek Camp Ground in Bayville. I think it would be a blast if we could everybody together in the same spot for some drinking and no driving.

Still considering....

Spoke with the CFO, she wants to go but that was before I saw the price of the nearby hotels etc (150 a night at red roof!) We wouldn't be able to camp, the cabins are also about the same price of an hotel but looks nice. We would need to being our own bedding, so that would rule out the bike if we went to the campground. But her ford escape has good MPG on the highway.

Then we would need to find someone kind enough to take both myself and wife (she would want to be in the same boat as me)...btw, the wife is probably better company than myself...

Another thing is that we already have a two week vaca in August, riding the bike down to TN through the blue ridge. Which could "complicate" financial and dig sitting plans...

CB, I remembered there was a flatulence issue, just didn't remember the details...

I assume most launch around Toms River?

My offer still goes.. as long as I can get the boat ready in time, etc. I still cannot promise anything at this time, but I'm working on it.

I assume most launch around Toms River?

There are a ton of launch sites available. Lanoka Harbor or Forked River would be my two guesses for most people...

Just about a month to go. And almost a month since the last post. I'm going to take Thursday and Friday before the raft up off. If anyone wants to do some fishing or plan a trip with the boats to AC or NYC or whatever. We went to Tice's last weekend for the first time this year. I have a feeling there will be more boats there this year because they closed down the F cove.

Thanks, they tasted even better than they looked. Bubba burgers, the only way to go.
Willy,I'll take you up on that challenge. Don't forget I have home field advantage. If you are staying at the same place that Rob usually stays at then Ocean Beach is probably your best bet. There are plenty of hotels up by me in Toms River. My friend Kyle, who you delt with last year at Ocean Beach marina, lives on the water by Huddy Park. I'm sure you could get a slip there for a few days.

I hate to say this, but I may not be able to make it. I just found out today that my company has picked that weekend to have our annual overnight trip to AC. (All on the company tab) So now I'm between a rock and a hard place.. I don't think I can make both. (3 hour drive to AC, then 3 hours back, then 2 hours to Barnegat, then 2 hours back again...) Trying to see if I can tow the boat with me to AC, then just go from there up to Barnegat. Staying at the Borgata...gotta find out if they can accominate a vehicle w/trailer for parking.

I've spent a goodly amount of time and money for the last several months getting my boat ready for this meet. This is not what I wanted and I'm really not a happy camper right now. Not sure what anybody "called", but here's some insight. We close on our new house today. Started packing weeks ago. Got a wife who wants to know why I'm spending so much time on the boat with everything else that's going on. We move on July 18th. I've been planning my whole life around this raft up ever since the date was set, and now my company decides on this date for their outing....so .. you tell me how I can be in both places at the same time and I'll be happy to follow your directions...:cen: And that's what I'm talking about!

way to go on the $4! Gas around here ranges from right around $3 for cash to 3.30ish credit. Its over $4 on the water. That's why I got a 29 gallon gas caddy. The fluke bite is getting better every day. And from what I hear there are a few bass still around. If your feeling brave there is tuna about 30-40 miles out. The bay is loading up with blowfish(which really do taste like chicken)and crabs. And unfortunately jellyfish, which means no swimming. But Tices and south still is clear.Let me know if you are heading up this way. My friend lives above a marina in downtown Toms River. It has a half a$$ ramp and plenty of slips and there is a Red Roof Inn less than a block away.

Used to go to Huddy every year to watch the 4th of July fireworks that they would shoot off over in Mathis Park. You could sit on the pier and use grass shrimp to catch perch and the occasional snapper blue. As I recall the crabbing wasn't all that great but I used to see a lot of people doing it there.

It is a pretty dynamic situation as sometimes the first guy out there is a all by himself waiting for people to hook up and then 1 hour later he is in the middle of the pack and the next group is 100 yards away looking for everyone else.

Six shorts in a week and had many others I talked to doing much worse.

Still have to put the boat in the water for a shakedown.. Just got the lower unit installed tonight... Hi all,
I've been lurking here for the last couple of months, just gleaning info. I picked up V-20 early this spring, and have been working to fix it up with my son. I was hoping we could get it ready for the raft-up, and kind of show up as surprise guests, but with the heat wave followed by the rain, it's looking like it's a slim to none chance. I will however see if I can find you'all and wade over to say hi. If the weather permits, I'll probably be over to Tice's with wife & daughter on jetskis.

Then I heard Capt Pete on 68 saying over here Tommy so I headed over to join in. It was great to share company with them,I meet Rob his family and dog Newfey such a nice family with well behaved children. At that time there were only three V-20's. Just as I thought no more V's were coming Ken and his wife came over to join us ,another nice couple with his [ show room condition ] V-20.

I had a great time with everyone. I ended up going solo. My wife didn't want to be in the boat after our trip across the Delaware bay the day before. But that is another story. Rob showed up first. Then I showed up shortly after. My brother stopped by for a little while. Then Tommy(step up here) showed up. Lumber made a visit in an inflatable with his brother. Later on George(barnegat v20) stopped by. And finally lumber got his boat over our way. It was really great to hang out and talk v20 with everybody. As usual I had the grill going making burgers, dogs, and even some tuna, thanks Rob,good stuff. So were the boiled peanuts. The weather actually turned out to be great.

There were several hundred boats around so of course the scenery was great also.

So Destroyer what happened this time? Just wondering.

Told you that August would be a better time for me. We took possession of our new home (got the keys and took the final walkthru) on July 18. Been working on painting, refinishing floors, installing security lighting, and some electrical wiring since then. I thought I might be able to get things organized enough to make it, but it wasn't to be. You know Pete, I can't help but keep laughing at this whole thing. As I recall, about 2 1/2 - 3 years ago (you can find the post if you care to) I was a noob to this board. In response to a meet that some of the southern guys were talkiing about I made the suggestion that we (the northern guys) should all get together for a meeting. Anyways, one thing led to another and we had the first meet, that I missed, Then we had last years and I made it as far as the water, only to get shot down with a bad pump..and this year ....well, a new house and moving is a little bit more important. You should know, you did it not long ago as I recall. It's not an easy task, and I'll be damned if I was going to let my wife do the work alone, so I made the decision to forgo the meet this year. As important to me as the meet was, and actually meeting all of you guys, my home and my wife are just that much more important. We'll meet eventually... count on it...
As to the house, we've got the living room and two of the bedrooms done, as well as all of the downstairs. Just about the only thing left is the kitchen (I promised my wife a new one) and we'll be ready for the furniture and actually moving in (Wheeeeeee)

I am all for a raft-up. Anytime, anywhere logistics allow.

I watched a couple dock up at the marina behind the Pilot House resturaunt in Key Largo in a 30' Whaler with twin Verados. He was from Jersey. He knew all about Tices. He piloted the boat down from Jersey which I thougt was cool. Then I ran into the same couple the next day at Doc's Place, small world. I never got his name but his boat said he was from Brielle, NJ.

I never got his name but his boat said he was from Brielle, NJ.
ridge , Brielle is just north of tices capt Pete would be more familiar with that area.

The electrical contractor I work for is based in Brielle, nice affluent area. About 20 minutes north of me by water, an hour north of tices cruising easy.

Hey George...sorry I missed ya on the shoal this year...

Brielle MUST be affluent...the guy just rode a 30' Whaler down Vic's way...$$$

I work in Point Pleasant Beach which is right across the river from Brielle. It's too bad you didn't get their name I probably have worked on that boat.

They had a dog but it wasn't a lab. LOL. Reddish Brown, medium sized long haired dog, might have been a setter. Medium build on the man with dark wavy hair in his mid to late 40's. First mate had light brown hair in her late 30's early 40's. Boat was a 30' Whaler full cabin. I suck with names.. I am sure the boat had a name too. Suncatcher? maybe..

Merc certified for the past 10 years or so. I have worked on a few 305 conquest Whalers. I don't remember the names very well either.
