Considering that woman that was killed in NY by being crushed by an elevator in much the same circumstances, I'd say that dog is really a cat in disguise.. minus 1 of it's 9 lives.

The problem with nowadays is that guy would have been killed by natural selection a long time ago. If I was standing in that elevator with that dumba## just sittin there watchin his dog like that I would have socked him in the face. what an idiot..........

Now lets put him on the leash and do the same. We'll see if he fares as well as his dog.

Sorry, I just didn't find that funny.
Very glad to see at the end that the dog was OK. I would have been pissed if they didn't show that the dog was OK...

It's funny seeing everyones response to the video's. Peoples views on pets becomes very apparent.
I love dogs, I did not think the original video was funny at all. That guy pissed me off.
I hate cats, watching one get its head chopped off was funny.

And then there are people like me that like all animals.. I do not like to see ANY animal getting hurt...pretend or not... To me it just sends the wrong message to everyone. :bat:
(And I'm NOT talking about hunting for food..that's different altogether)

Like anything else in this world, if one person can conceive it another person can get around it.
IF you are in an office or in a cubicle where you have privacy then I offer everyone the following solution to blocked sites:
Go to any site that has Ubuntu on it and dl it. www.ubuntu.com (http://www.ubuntu.com) (It's free) Install it to a CD. Put the CD in your computer and set your computer BIOS settings to boot to the CD drive before your hard drive. Reboot your computer and load Ubuntu. (Do NOT install it to your computer, simply run it from your CD drive) Now go surf the web in complete security without being blocked. When you're finished surfing, simply remove the CD and reboot your computer. Everything on your computer will then be as it was before.
Here's why it works:
Ubuntu is a form of Linux. It's a totally different, open source operating system. Ubuntu comes with Firefox internet browser preloaded, much like Windows comes with Internet Explorer. Since you're using a different operating system your Windows based server does not see that your computer is even turned on, much less that you're online, and has no way of blocking your surfing. When you remove the disk and reboot you remove ALL traces of the program, so there's no way for anyone to trace where you have been or what you were looking at.
This works. Trust me on this one. Just remember that there's a reason that they blocked various sites at work, so this only works safely if you have a reasonable amount of privacy for viewing. :head:

There is also a big difference between one video being real and the other not. If it were a real cat losing it's head it would not have been funny either.

With all due respect, I have to disagree with you. For much the same reason that they are now trying to cut down on violance in cartoons etc. The shrinks are starting to recognize that it tends to desensitize us when we see things like that. And once you lose your sensitivity it's just a small step for some people to actually do things like that. As an example, (not that I care to discuss or even dwell on the past) but when I was in Vietnam and saw my first dead person I was shocked and sickened by it. By the time I left Vietnam 15 months later the sight of blown apart dead bodies and pieces of dead bodies was just a part of the landscape. It carried no particular meaning. I was desensitized by the constant repeatition.
The video of the cat being beheaded is sick. Period. The pretense that it's funny for an evil car to do it does not make it less sick. I truly hope that the person that dreamed up that revolting mess has just one question to ask from now on...... "Hey buddy, can you spare some change"? :bat:

We are going to have to agree to disagree.
I studied psychology in college and while I am not an expert I do know that the fact I find one funny and another not has nothing to do with being desensitized. If anything it shows the opposite, one is real...not funny, one is fake...funny. There are also a large group of "shrinks" that believe it's just human nature.
I will not speak of Vietnam because I was not born or will not pretend to know what it was like. But I do know adaptation is key to survival in any extreme situation. "It is not the strongest of the species that survive, nor the most intelligent, but the one most responsive to change." - Darwin
People have been evil, sick and twisted since the beginning of time. The fact that some find a particular "sick" thing funny makes one none of the above. The thought and desire to do such things can be a slippery slope though.
To me the dog video was sick, the cat video was funny. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions and sense of humor. I do not think badly about the people that laughed at the dog, it's their right. If they recreated the act to see it in person that's a different story.

Which just goes to prove my point... they are just as prone to being desensitized as any other group. Perhaps it was human nature to kill for fun hundreds of thousands of years ago, but I would like to think that we, as a species, have risen above such things.
I will not speak of Vietnam because I was not born or will not pretend to know what it was like.
I spoke of Nam only because of personal experience. You'll find the same thing to be true of any war. The participants become numb to the horrors around them, as much to preserve their own sanity as for any other reason.
People have been evil, sick and twisted since the beginning of time. The fact that some find a particular "sick" thing funny makes one none of the above. The thought and desire to do such things can be a slippery slope though.
Agreed, You make my point. It's the presentation of that thought to the
masses of people through videos like this that I'm talking about.
To me the dog video was sick, the cat video was funny. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions and sense of humor. I do not think badly about the people that laughed at the dog, it's their right. If they recreated the act to see it in person that's a different story.
See, I had a different take on the dog vid. To me, it wasn't funny, nor was it sick. Viewing it, I never got the feeling that the dogs owner deliberately tried to hurt his dog. It was just a horrible accident that fortunately ended well. Just an accident, not a deliberate attempt to portray torture and death to a living animal. The cat video, on the other hand, was exactly that. The people that made it created or recreated the action so that you could see it in person thru the video, and, as you have just said, that's a different story.
For me, I just fail to see the humor in any depiction of the hurting of animals.
