Mike, one thing when you start to put it all back...BE SURE the dash and windshield base is returned to the same level as it came from the factory...the supports under the dash are critical in this regard....if it is not right, the windshield will not fit properly....when I put my '74 back, I used 3/4" treated ply, upholstered w/white vinyl...worked well for the 11 years I had it...

Heres what used to be a cuddy and is now a centerconsole. Go through my thread for any pics you need. Mine had foam in the transom corners.putty for the stringers and sole. In my opinion I was not impressed with the quality once I pulled the floor. but Im taking care of that:beer:. Lets get up one evening next week. Im right here off military and indian river so im not far from ya. Im no proffesional but Im sure we can put a plan together. And in my opinion that Arauco ACX from lowes is some really good stuff for a budget build as long as its encapsulated properly

This picture here shows the raised type platform the old saddles were based on. when I cut my liner like the picture shows to return my glass for my transom I noticed the cores in the bases were rotted. I cleaned my out of the rotted core with a pressure washer and filled them with expansion foam. Im not going back with the tanks so i wasnt worried about having to mount them there or tank support. I guess another approach would maybe be cut the top off and cut a core material to fit then glue back the piece of glass you cut off then fair and paint?????

Take some pics standing on your cuddy looking back at your transom. I would like to see your floor layout.

can someone tell me the best way to get them out with out damaging them and my cuddy step down

Mike as you can see our boats are identical or....was!!! I had the step down into the cuddy as you see in the old picture with the 2 boxes following to the stern. My picture has the console in the boat hiding the box behind the console. The step down into the cuddy i cut out the part of the stepdown that extended into the floor and glassed in a new bulk head there to act as a ledger for my floor and a the back wall for what I have coverted to a upper deck storage box Im going to drill a hole on the backside of my new piece ply wood and put a drain hole into the bilge. Cut 2 or 3 inches around your boxes the depth of the floor and remove them. when you remove them clean them up and prep them so they can be reglued with thickened resin to your new floor and glassed over when you reglass your floor. Remove the old core material from around the lip of the box just leaving glass. Im not putting any boxes back in my floor Im gonna keep my deck simple. I am gonna convert one of my demo'd fish boxes into an semi oversized motor well in the back and thats it. Maybe you do the same to keep the boat deck simple also and just keep the step down to the cuddy. Once again I am new at this and maybe someone else has some other tips to help you

thinking about it now you have a good idea on the simple floor and that cuddy step is kinda in the way from port to starboard side and if i wanna fish that bad and keep them i have the big a** white cooler that hold a ton of stuff so it would be a good idea for me to do that

Now ya thinking!!!!! Its a project and we are not proffesionals keep it simple. Look at some of reelapeelins swivel seats mounted on raised storage boxes its a "reel" cool setup!! lol!!! Make your floor continues port to starboard all the way across. big cooler in back with cushion there ya go. just my 2 cents. Im building a fishing machine not a foo foo boat.

i was gonna make some storage trays under the passenger side dash into the cuddy i would do away with the cuddy but keeping it for the kids to have a spot to rest and for storage of other boat stuff the under the seat thing is cool to i can always trim down my mounts already have seats taht are in real good condition and mount them on top

IMO the way you have your floor cut out already you dont need to remove the whole cap. just control cut with a grinder and remove the first foot and half of cap from the rear. Remove the rub rail and cap screws then just remove that portion. then put it back after transom is done then glass the cap back in place.
mike77v20
12-19-2011, 09:54 PM
you cant see it in the pics i have removed all the rub rail and screws whoever did it before did a crappy job the cap is cracked a little and the screws were just held by the shell so im gonna put a 2x2 all the way around the inside of hull for better hold power of the screws me and my brother slid the cap foward two feet to get access to transom and once i get me dremel for christmas:sly:and get the crappy corners smoothed up ima do the transom and slide cap back into place and finish out the rebuilding of the floor
