Came back from Charleston w/more than a FAT THANKSGIVING BELLY!!...

http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y90/reelapeelin/Oct-Nov11087.jpg

Me and Spare jumped on it w/Spare of course doin' all the HEAVY LIFTIN'...once we got 'er hung, he had the carbs off in no time flat and in the cleanin' machine...dropped the foot and stuck in a new water pump and changed the foot oil, so all serviced down there...I managed to get the control box mounted in spite of my limited talents..new control cables hooked up...spare pops on the newly cleaned carbs...power to it...fuel to it...cables to it...turn the key and as soon as the fuel got thru the carbs, she runnin' like a new singer sewin' macheen!!...thought this cool cuz hasn't run since 2009...ran great in the yard, so we hooked 'er up and went for wet test...ran GREAT...wish I had some pics from that, but left camera elsewhere...oh well...

She my 1st Merc, and I couldn't be HAPPIER!!...:sun:

Still got one little issue to hurdle...small leak in the T & T unit...soon as my upstate tech gets the Merc seal, she'll be chasin' striped bass on Lake Hartwell..gonna have a visitor in late Jan..gotta be ready!!...:hi:

That's a lot of off shore juice for an old timer like you, make sure to turn your hat around backwards when you gun it.

Yeah..some of my "Imaginary Friends" I met on the internet..the boat is only virtual...yeah right!...that 200 jumpin the V outta the water the other day...as REEL as friends get!!...

In my excitement over the Merc, I somehow forgot (MOMENTARY CRANIAL FLATULENCE) to mention Capt Pete...I'll never forget his offer across the table at Red's in Mt Pleasant last Spring...w/out that initial gesture, none of this woulda happened...TO PETE!!...

Yup. That's funny REEL, that the plan was hatched at Red's. Even the Merc was mentioned if memory serves.

No one asking the questions ? No one asking about performance ?

Ok...... I'm asking:

About how fast at cruising speed - 4,000 rpm or so

And how fast at WOT ?

Best of luck with that motor.

I'll go out on a limb here. Depends on the prop, but assuming he's running a 17P ss I'd expect the cruising speed on a flat lake to be somewhere between 36-44 mph gps. More once he gets the bottom of the boat fixed up. WOT should be 50-55. Anyone have a different opinion? :head:

we didn't have a gps, but we ran the 21 small ear quicksilver prop off my V on it, turned 5300, Reel will probably change it out to a 19. IO thought it cruised nicely at 3400, but Reel liked it better at 4200

I'll put up some numbers soon as I got 'em...I wanna know too!!...have FF/GPS unit on the way...need to get T & T seal replaced and GPS in and try the 17P & 19P props on hand to see which is best...will be a while...but thanks for the interest!!...

Destroyer mentioned the rough bottom..he's right...when Spare and I wet tested I was looking at the water coming from under hull at speed...pretty sudsy...it'll be interesting to see if I really pick up any top end when I get her smoothed out...The Merc feels STRONG though!!...I think it can come up another notch on the transom...anticav plate just under water on plane...I want it just above...one notch up oughtta 'bout do it...
