I tried to get Reel to blow off working on his boat earlier this week and go fishing. He just wanted to keep wrenching. The tide was right, so i took teh McKee otu this afternoon. Started off getting rained on

tried a couple of places up the Wando, ended up in a creek across the river from where everyone fished this spring at the get together.
First red was a keeper at 20"

Nice to see you getting out for a little R & R. Man I can taste that fresh fish from here. Kind of neat being able to place exactly where you were fishing too!

Great job. Nice fish. I like the way you roll, throw the keys, cell phone, whatever in the floor of the boat, "I got a fish on!"

14 inch is the minimum on specs. But due to last years cold snap, we lost the majority of specs around here. The SCDNR asked fisherman to release all trout(notice they didn't make a law, they asked) this year till they get thru another winter. We lost some big trout last winter, my personal best was 27 inches, I saw a 36 inch trout that floated up after they blew up the old bridge( I measured it right before I cleaned it). I was happy to see the 14 incher, I caught it in one of my primary trout holes. So maybe next year, we'll have plenty of keepers around here. And yes, they do taste better than reds, maybe this week I'll try for flatties

I bet you will get paid back for letting the trout go next year SP.

I remember being in Charleston right before they blew up the bridge and saw that they were offering to give the bridge to anyone who wanted it.....but you had to move it.

I got a piece of the Grace in my garage. that bridge ran right beside the marina we ate oysters at this spring, had the bridge been still up, we would have been standing in its shadow. If you watch Die Hard 2, the bridge scene with the Dodge pickup was filmed on the grace, look quick when you see the tug boat making a circle, and you'll see the marine before they restored it(it used to be the city jail)

tried it again today, tide was off, had to fish the last half of incoming and the first half of outgoing. I've never been able to do much at high tide. Caught one undersized trout, went boat riding for the most part. Put in up on the river at Bushy Park, rode all the way to Ft. Sumter, went up the Wando to fihin hole #2(thats where I caught the trout), ended up back at SeaBreeze, went back up the Cooper, took a look at Lee's submarine still sitting there. Fished the Amaco dock, then thought I'd ride up to the fresh water entry to Bushy Park, half way there, I'd decided it was getting late and I turned it around and went back to the ramp. Didn't catch much, but had a heck of a day

I had a similar morning of boat riding with little to no bite in Tampa Bay this past Sat. Left the house at 3:00 with no wind whatsoever, Made it to the middle of the bay by 6:30 and was greeted with more than a light chop. Ditched the plan to go offshore and struck out on Grouper/Goliath inside the bay. I did have one break-off on 100 lb braid fishing with whole mullet on the bottom. Anybody's guess??? Moved after a time and anchored up near a pod of fishing boats in a channel. Fishing a strong outgoing current, with heavy confused chop. Got tired of getting beat up and my back started bothering me so I put in early, home by noon. Never saw the sun and never saw a fish landed or hooked by the other boats. Shoulda brought some light spinning reels, a guy landed a slot red from the bank as I was hauling the boat out. Offshore keeps illuding me due to the weather. Boat handled great. Nothing broke.. Beautiful trip.
