Well thanks to a good dealer, and some good friends it looks like I will be up and running before I get back from Italy.
After days of searching and coming up with squatzola and deciding I cannot afford new due to the Eighteen thousand dollar price quotes from the Yamaha Evinrude Suzuki dealers up anywhere close to me, friends turned me on to a dealer in southJersey, with a great rep and a great name, Barnacle Bills.
Well without going into details I signed a contract and am getting a 2011 new Etec HO 200 for a LOT less.
Anyhow, I could not get it there so after being reminded by that Old Sage Ozzie that Capt. Pete does boat transport on the side I have contracted with Pete to p/u FishBones and deliver it.
It's a beautiful thing, when a plan comes together.
Saying a prayer all goes good.
Thanks Pete.

Dave you will absolutely shocked at what I am getting this engine installed for. It still is a stretch but Evinrude has a 6% promo going so I am doing half up front. Five year warranty. 800 for my old engine, plus they are using my original controls which is saving me a grand right there.
All in $12,900.
I was looking at used engines installed up here for $7900. with 440 hrs etc.
I will have the balance paid off by year end.
For the peace of mind, the performance, the warranty, it is much better going this way.
For the past few years since I retired from the P.D I have been working 10-12 hour days, usually at least one weekend day in the office, a lot of responsibility and three employees.
So I am going to push my envelope a little and do something good for myself. This will be the first new motor for the salt water boats that I have ever had after almost forty years of fishing the salt.
Your d@mn right I am going for it. And I agree the horse shoe is close by but I have worked and hunted for it for a long time.

Two things come to mind...
One is, you have a halfway place to lay yer head down right here in Spartanburg...a little off the path to Sarasota, but free and I'll promise you some good grub and plenty of it!!...probly scare up a cold beer or three if you've a mind to...that offer's good goin' and comin"...
The other is, does it conflict w/the NJ Get-Together?...I'd hate to come all the way to The Garden State and miss it's most important resident!!...

thanks for the offer Ozzie. I may take you up on that. The boat is in no rush to get down there so I won't be missing the get together. If you need a place to stay when you are up here I have an extra room in my basement with a tv and a pull out couch.
Destroyer, I really hope you do show up. It will prove that you really do exist.

:haha:..LOL!!...We've CONFIRMED the existence of Willy and I left RWilson and his crew playin' on a remote beach in NC just the other day..but Pete, you got a point about Destroyer there...I guess it's up to him to show himself...no, not like that...put that thing up!!...yeah, you'll fit right in!!...
And thanks for the offer, Pete!!...these V20 parties are gaining a common thread...I stayed in a friend's basement in Charleston, too!!...:sun:

Actually, after conferring with my Consiglieri (Italian you know) Ozzie I decided it is going to be a trial by fire on the new Etec.
I am leaving for the two hour plus ride on Friday to pick up the boat at Barnacle Bills, bringing it up an hour to Barnegat Bay and putting it in the water there. My trusted adviser suggested it did not make sense to make the trip to south jersey twice within three days especially since I will have no time to run her anyhow.
So I am taking advantage of the time and have four new Maxus radials put on the trailer as we speak.
I spoke with Joe at Barnacle Bills, his boys had the boat water tested, went thru three props to find the right combo for the right rpm and performance, he says his son was very pleased with it, but they did bring it back and re-mount the motor one hole higher to get it right and re-tested it.
Says I got 5400 rpm with a full tank which it had when they got it and two guys on board, good bite on the water in turns, good prop/cav plate position and one h@ll of a hole shot. It is where it is supposed to be.
So, on Friday she is going to get run, can't wait.

Oh and I had them replace all my fuel lines with new E-10 compatible lines(they were original 97 vintage), had them replace my live well pump which had just bit the dust(also original).
So FishBones should be a happy lady for years to come!

that sounds like they really have it dialed in. I was going to ask you about how your boat was doing yesterday when you called. But I was pulling into a marina with a tow and really needed to concentrate on where we were going. I'm taking Friday off so we can hook up whenever your ready to go.

Good Pete, hey I lost the piece of paper I had while driving the other day on which I wrote the name of that marina you told me to call. Could you let me know again the name and town

ocean beach marina in lanoka harbor. ask for Kyle and tell him you know me. maybe it will help. 609-693-2347. next to them is lanoka harbor marina. both are on cedar creek in lacey twp. also there are literally dozens of marinas on the forked river. all of which are across from tices shoal and about half way between where you are staying and where I keep my boat.

Dang I hope all this works out...or my name is MUD!!...right down to the brand of trailer tires...:deer:...if that new Etec falls off the transom...:head::fight::fight::fight:...oh the PRESSURE!!
BTW...might pick up a little souvenir from the Garden State...funny how things work out...

Can't go wrong with the Maxxis or Etec! Happy for you Willy.
Two trips ago trailering home from SC I hit something in the road (I guess) and had not one but TWO flats on the starboard side of the tandem trailer. Only ONE spare on hand and it was 5 min. til 5pm - everybody's closing. One hell of a nice local couple stopped by, fed us fresh picked strawberrys, went home and brought us a spare off his boat - exact model as mine and all. GAVE it to me. From now on I take TWO spares. Horrible feeling being broke down and helpless.
