Thanks everybody, these boats are great! solid as a rock and very stable. But I was wondering how far have y'all run them offshore? Charleston is only 3 hrs from my house and i usually go down a few times a year.

I take my 18' Fisherman 15+ miles out on a halfway decent day. I know of some people with V-20's that go around 30 miles out. It all depends on the seas.

Nice looking V21... congrats!

I have a dock mate that runs his 1989 V 20 out to Gay Head MV from New Bedford all the time. That's got to be close to 15 miles. We have taken our V 20 out to the Elizabeth Island which is about 8 miles

I know ssredfish that posts here had a report from the G reef of our Georgia coast in his V and that is about 23 miles out.

Hey Money....I just sold a 95 V21 last year...great boats...you'll come to really love it...where didja find her...I'm just up the interstate from you in Spartanburg and go to Charleston quite a bit myself...those pics look like Greenwood or Murray...

As far as how far to run offshore, of course the sea conditions dictate all...another factor is fuel capacity vs fuel burn...your 21 has a 60 gal tank...applying the old rule of thumb, 1/3 out, 1/3 in and 1/3 reserve... you would go out on 20...return on 20 and have 20 as reserve...so whatever distance you can squeeze out of 20 gals should be your approx limit...assuming you aren't carrying aux fuel...
If the above rule of thumb puts you out more than 30-40 miles, adjust for common sense...these boats handle seas as good as they come, but remember, it's still only a 21' boat w/ONE motor...and I would only do that when the sea has been and is forecast to be calm for several days...if you're looking at a forecast and there's only ONE day in there that's doable, I wouldn't count on it...another idea is to go out w/another boat...there's safety in numbers....especially out there...

Thanks for the input everybody, sounds like a very capable boat for a 21 footer.

Found the boat in Murrells inlet at a boat broker, had to make the trip down there twice but it was totally worth it. The pics were at lake secession, its a small lake that backs up to lake Russell where the state record Striper was caught 63 lbs. Here is a pic,

Reel, that is some of the best flare porn I've seen. You are a Gentleman, a scholar, and a good judge of fine whiskey.
