Most you know that I have health issues, and have been dealing with them for some time.
The worst is Diabetes for the last 21 years. It has done all kinds of things to me over the years but the last couple of years its been really tuff!!
My eyes have both had detached retinas as a result of scar tissue from bleeds in the eye
can' feel my hands and feet anymore, i heal ever so slow, causing infection that i have had month long hospital stays 4 different times.
The last thing as of late my kidneys are working at only 16%
So to make a long story short I had a Gastric Bypass to lose weight.
It has been one week and my Diabetes is GONE!!
This will hopefully slow done or stop all the nerve damage that is going on??
Kidney Doc says she has 2 other people that were same as me had the operation and now they have regenerated to 40% kidney function!!
My right eye has been repaired but not perfect but we will be doing the left eye soon and hope for the best??
So there you go you guys all know what I have been doing t myself over the years, and how i am trying to fix it all! Its been a week and I have lost 10 pounds already and no sugar so far if this keeps up I am glad not to take any more needles for the rest of my life.
Thanks for listening!

MJ
I had gastric bypass myself in 2000, I didn't haqve health problems but I figured the older I got the more it would bother me.

I was 350 and lost down to 168 but I put back on some weight because I was always tired. I now flux between 185-195 and feel great.

Ask me anything and I'll tell you what I experienced.
Congrats you'll be glad you did it.:clap:

I'm not a doctor guys... what exactly is a gastric bypass? :head:

They cut the top part of your stomach off (a small section) and make you a new stomach called the pouch (the size of a egg) and attach the small intestine to the bottom of the pouch. That becomes your new stomach. You can only eat small amounts of food, less intake you lose weight. As MJ said it almost always cures people who are diabetics and most of the time reduces blood pressure and heart problems unless a lot of damage has already occurred.

The drawbacks are because the food doesn't travel down the large intestine your body (small intestine) doesnot absorb as many nutrients out of the food, so you have to take vitamins (MJ they make specialty vitamins just for gasric bypass) also MJ you will need to take shots/oral iron supplements (this is very critical). All in all it really works for people who have trouble losing weight and keeping it off.

I don't regret having mine done.

Great job MJ! :clap:You will like the results of the bypass.
I have an aunt who had it done 4 years ago. She had been very large for as long as I can remember, basically since the 70's. She ranged from 300-350 lbs and she is only about 5'1". She had it done and I saw her about a year later. And I truly didn't recognize her. She came and said 'hi' to me and I didn't know who she was. It was mildly embarrassing, but she looked amazing. She is now about 110 lbs.
We are all rooting for you!:sun:
Plus you gotta love the flintstone vitamins! mmm like candy. I could munch on them all day (probably not a good idea), my wife takes them, I steal a couple from her when I think of it.
