we ran a 21 pitch mirage on a 176 Stingray bowrider. The 3.7 was a 165 hp with pertronix iginition, K&N Flame arrestor and an 888 Mercruiser 2BBl Rochester carb. Teh prop had been labbed and double cupped, boat ran right at 52. I'd sugest starting with a 17 pitch on your boat, you're probably going to turn it more rpm than we did, you could probably get away with a 19 p Mirage

I ran a 15x17 on my V20 with a 3.7 last year. WOT was 4000+, and she ran 35mph+ with a full load on. I'm going to try a 15-1/4 x 15 in a week or so, in hopes of getting WOT between 4400-4600.

Aussie, I run a 14.5" X 19P. It's a 1983 v20 170hp 470 mercruiser. With a full tank(60 gal), two people and fishing gear, coolers, ice etc. I can run 34mph-gps at 4200rpm. That's on a dead flat lake Erie, which we don't see very often. I've never taken her beyond that but it still has some left, just no reason. I cruse at 3200rpm 24mph gps in a 2ft or more chop, I've found this to be the most comfortable ride without beating myself and the boat to death.
The mercruiser manual says 4200-4600rpm max. These motors have alot of torque and on lake Erie when you get into 3-5 ftrs that means boat control.
