I'm currently changing a 77 v20 from an inboard outboard to a regular outboard. The guestion I have is since the transom is strong I want to put a bracket thas 32 inches back and 4 foot wide but I have never seen one done that way so I'm curious to if it changes the boat in a bad way with a bracket.Any input or pictures would be great.

Seems like a bit much to me, but the experts will chime in soon. There's some discussion of setback in this old post about my bracket install.

I hope someone who's done this will weigh in on this comment, but although your transom is strong, it will need further bracing to properly hold a bracket/OB installation...the I/O transom does not hold the weight of the motor...only the outdrive...

I thought that an I/O conversion to bracket is what MacoJoe did?

I may be wrong.

Yup...he did, but the transom was reinforced in the process...
