Is this guy messin' with me?

So browsing Craigslist today I come upon a new post asking to buy a Loran because he cant get his to work:


I cant get my loran to work and I have checked every wire etc. ! I need one as all of my wreck numbers are in loran. I prefer a northstar or furuno or someone that can get mine to work for a reasonable fee.

So I send him a quick email telling him Loran has been turned off since Feb before last and he's out of luck...

This is what he emails me back:

I am pissed- I was in Jail at that time and I suspected the government was messing with my stuff- My boat was locked up but who knows what the Gov can do. How do you know they were messin with it in February though. Do you know how I can turn it back on ?

Well, I've never had an extended stay there :zip:BUT, you hear stories all the time about folks having to adapt to modern changes and stuff once they get out of the slammer. Looks and sounds real to me. If he's messin with ya, what exactly does he expect to gain besides an extremely mild chuckle only heard by he and you?

Try telling him that the government turned off all the Loran broadcasting stations so there is no signal to detect, and that his equipment is working perfectly. :head:
