Had water in my tank, decided to remove it today. What a pain chipping away at the foam, but got it out with no problems.

Foam destroyed the tank as there was water in the foam like a sponge.

Foam was a pain, chipping away with a crow bar, prying pieces off. The foam was saturated with fuel and water making it heavy.

Im going with supports, tank welder said to avoid foam if possible.
Try not to use wood supports. tyr using strips of Starboard. Same material like a kitchen plastic cutting board, as it does not absorb water and is not affected by water.. And also leave slits in it so water can pass through. This site sort of explains it.

Thanks for the idea Cam, good link, I wanna do this the right way, have 5 days before my tank is back. I spoke to the welder today and not sure if I should go with a bigger tank. He measured the old one and calculated 43 gallons, however in the hull I have so much more room for a bigger tank. If I went bigger is that gonna effect how the boat gets into plane? Is it only 43 gallons for a specific reason? I'd love to use up the room for a bigger tank! The original tank is 48" long, I'd like to add another foot to the new tank, and still leave room for supports.

The tank in the later years was 65 gallons so I don't think going bigger is going to hurt your performance drastically, unless you are running a 115 HP or something.

Spoke to Atlantic welding, adding an additional Foot to the tank making it from 48" to 60". He's getting back to me on how many gallons i'm increasing. He did tell me stock is 43 gallons.
Here is a schematic of the tank I got from somene here I believe..

Good choice if you go with Atlantic, very reputable, quality tanks.
