I have a windlass on my boat that when I go to pull in the anchor it wont pull it up without someone helping to pull on the rope,I thought it was the rope that was crushed so I cut off 40' of it but that did not help I guess it is the windlass mechanism that is bad (not gripping rope) is ther a way to adjust this?

tighten the clutch on the gypsy, use your manual handle to tighten the center bolt on the windlass

Throw it away and use a ball, so much better and nothing to break!

MJ.. I've never heard of using a ball to haul in an anchor. How do you do it? :head:

Throw it away and get yourself an Armstrong windlass.
