My question is -- Does the 94' stock controls have a fast idle lever ? I had a 94' 150 looper rebuilt and installed with controls, the controls were very used looking and the mechanic told me I really don't need the fast idle lever, ( not working ) that the motor starts up with higher rpm and then automatically kicks down when warm. So far I have seen this to be true, but I would still like to have the ability to rev the motor a little bit in nuetral when weather is colder. Just not sure if the controls are for a motor that has to have fast idle or if he's full of *^*$% and this motor needs it too.

I've never seen a control set that didn't have some sort of fast idle function built into it. The big question though is does it work? I know some of the old control sets get so corroded up internally that they freeze up and won't go into fast idle function anymore. Post a pic of the control set and most likely we can tell you how to engage the fast idle function. And on a cold day you WILL need it.

My controls for my 94 Johnson 150 did not have one. I just pulled out the throttle control for neutral and rev ed it up that way.

That is the fast idle function. SOme of the older ones had a seperate lever, most of the newer ones you pull out and then slide it up, and some of them have a button you push in and then slide the throttle up.
