I'm told its a mid 80's, has some gouges in the side and soft spots in the floor. Garagenc went by and took the pics and inspected. Don't know the condition of the sea drive but planning a bracket boat anyway. Transom did not flex when garagenc did the jump test.
The asking price is $1250.

Randleman, where in the hell did you find that at ????
Thats a rare one, the guys on this site would die for it.
Bracket for sure, so add in another $1700.00 for a full size bracket platform, if buying the bracket new. If you dont grab it, somebody else will quick.

Man!!!...a duallie w/ a full transom :o ... rare indeed ;) ...if the motor runs at all, WELL worth askin' price ...can run it for a while anyway, then bracket and OB 8) ... boat looks good ;D ...

Garagenc gets the credit for finding it.
It is in an "undisclosed location" that I will gladly disclose if I decide against it.
It's a 5 hour trip, one way, from me. *As soon as I can, I'll go check it out and get my "final answer".

a full transom, bracketed dually,[w/a full enclosure] would be the ideal boat! I would seriously pursue that one! Hope it all checks out.

As Moderator I demand location!!!!!!!!
For $1200 theres not much that would stop me from getting it!!
Hell priced at that the guy has no idea!! offer a grand and drag it out as fast as you can!!
If not I will get it, and travel for it! I will sawp all from my boat and sell my hull!
This will get the find of the year award, based on price and model!

hey guys;
I know where a mid 70 cuddy v-20 is that has a enclosure still intact. The boat is in bad shape but it has a lot of good salvageable parts (windshield, I think I remember that it had the rod box inserts that were in pertty good shape). I might be able to get that one for someone for little of nothing if anyone is interested.

Are you asking for the one randleman is looking at or the other one I found?
I have a lead on a V-21 (1992) enclosure, all electronics on it with a yamaha 225, the boat and motor has less than 325 hours on it and has been kept in a garage all the time.
This boat looks like a new boat, but I'm sure he is going to ask top price but I know the boat and its worth it.

I can't figure out if you guys are encouraging me to get this boat because you want me to become a part of the brotherhood of proud V owners, enjoying the fun and fellowship that only the owner of a V-20 can fathom.
Or is it that you want someone else to share in your pain, owning an old boat that needs endless repairs and will end up costing twice as much as you can ever imagine.

If you are not willing to do this, then don't buy a boat!! Even a new boat will need work in short order!!
Don't kid yourself, you will sink $$$ in any boat you buy!
Give up the hunt for a boat now!! Take up something easy, like knitting!

Really I am going to wait a little while. I don't have the time to do a resto on a boat right now and don't have the money for a nice one. I have a perfectly good boat, it is not exactly what I want but it works fine for 75% of my boating.
And I have a GREAT motor!!!!!
I may decide to sell my rig, and then I should have plenty of dough for a nice V. It's just hard to decide to get rid of a perfect motor (except for being a 20"er). And yes I know that I could get a V with a 20" transom but I already have a boat with a 20 inch transom that I don't care for in the ocean.
So there you go.
As for cuddy or cc, I like a cc, but that dual console seems to be the perfect family boat that you can fish with. My current boat has a "cuddy sort of area" under the bow and the kids like getting under there in their bean bag chairs for a nap now and them.

you can fix that idle turn up the idle screw 1/4 turn fixes them the worst idling motor i ever had was a crossflow 115 Johnson.

the worst idling motor i ever had was a crossflow 115 Johnson.
My 83 1.6l(115HP) sea-drive idles pretty crumby to. It won't hardly run at all unless it's on 50:1, 25:1 had it poppin and belchin somethin fierce.
Many of the bad idling loopers are ones that are in need of overhaul, or ones improperly rebuilt.
My 140 looper idles pretty good after I rejetted it. But man is it hard turning over. Started it today and ran it with some ring free so I can hopefully take it out this weekend.
Skools Out
01-27-2007, 02:58 AM
my old 115 was low on compression on one cylinder by 12 psi to the other 3 which caused mine crossflow motors need their compression even or they suck at idle.
THEFERMANATOR
01-27-2007, 03:16 AM
Mine barely has an hours run time on it since rebuild, so I'm still waiting on the rings to seat. But it did have 90 even on all cylinders before rebuild, but it wouldn't idle for crap. The best idleing engine I have is a cross-flow engine though, an 80 35HP JOHNSON. It will purr right down to 400 RPM's in neutral, and had it running at 350 in gear before.
I hope I can run it some tommorrow now that I've got another lower unit for it. Want to get some runtime on it before I park it for a new transom.
