Well, this topic has been slow. For me fishin has been slow, but went out yesterday anyhow, haven't been able to get out much lately. Boat ran great. The dog loves fishing, gets excited every time I reel in, even just checking bait...

I am curious how the real fishermen are doing, MJ?

Why you asking MJ? He hasn't been fishing in a month! :you: Although I think he's out there today, at least he said he was going to be.
The Striper fishing slowed down in a big way for me last week. Before then, we were hooking up pretty decent and regular. You probably need to get out earlier or later in the day. Early AM is probably the best time. I've been doing well at night, but generally you can depend on the feed bag being on at just before up to an hour or two after daybreak. When I go out at night, the fish are slow to bite at first and you can get frustrated, but given time, the bite will definately turn on.
You'll get fish during the day, but not as consistant. Find deep holes that hold the Bass and try a diamond jig, Crippled Herring, or some other jigging type lure. Troll deep with tube and worm to find them, then jig in that spot.

I wasn't really expecting much yesterday. When I take the wife out I can't leave real early in the morning nor fish at night like I do when its just me and the dog. I expect better fishing later in Sept when the water cools off. The problem will be finding time as I will be either watching or going to the Pats games on Sundays...

thanks. Yes, she didn't know I was just checking my bait. Should have had the picture taken with "fish on". Albeit it would have been just a scup or black bass so I wouldn't have been that excited anyhow.

So when you do have fish on, and you haul it up to the boat, does she try to grab the fish?

I need to keep her away due to the hooks etc, but she loves to smell the fish over when I let her. I was talking to someone who takes their dog fishing as well, and they let the dog eat the first fish (only the first fish). Since I'm the one that needs to clean up after the dog, I am careful to what I feed her. Plus, not sure my dog would want to stop just after the first one.

I used to have a cat that loved to eat raw fish; I would throw her small chunks
when I was cleaning fish. If I let her, she would pounce on a whole fish and try
to take bites out of it.
