fellas, had my 1993 200hp evinrude out for i'st time. ran well however control box starting beeping. what is that. richard

Well Richard, sounds to me like someone was trying to tell you she was overheating.

There are a number of things that will do it.
Problem is, I don't remember what the sequences are in order to diagnose the problem.
This isn't correct but will give you some idea.
A long steady horn may be overheating,
intermittent beeps at idle or certain speeds may be a low oil indicator (or pressure) or even low fuel pressure.

You need to remember the type of horn beeps and when it was doing it in order to narrow the problem down.

Oh true i forgot about the oil indicator, since i dont have that.

My old OMC was steady for over heat and beep for Oil

VRO beeps, and overheat will steady sound. Also the big loopers 200HP+ have the fuel restriction switch that will also steady sound, but only does this when there is a restriction like under a load.
