rod boxes

some guys say the under gunnel rod boxes go through the opening & mount inside the opening.are you kidding,i'd need to be a magican to get them inside,mine were mounted on the outside surface.I tried to put them inside & they dont fit in there.what gives?

yeah mine mount to the outside i really dont think they would fit unless i did some major trimming!

thats what i figured.I'm modifying the port one to have 2 small pole holders on the bottom & a full length shelf on the upper half to hold sinkers,drinks,& other small items.
