Rob, I think you're right on the engine trouble.... His post about updated electronics distributor is a clue. Still, it's a 4 cylinder... they're a dime a dozen... and the hull looks in good shape. Might be worth a transplant for someone that likes I/O's. 87 is certainly new enough...:head:

Agreed....especially with the bimini and full enclosure that he showed in some of the earlier pics.....at $2K he should be close to being able to find a buyer.

As a matter of fact, just a few posts down in Craigslist is this ad for remanufactured I/O engines with a 2 year warrantee for $1295 delivered!

Someone could get what looks like a really nice 87' for under $3500 with just a little work. :head:

So how big is the motor cover in a V20? Is it a good size to act as a table/cutting board? I'm considering going to take a look, but wondering how much the motor gets in the way. I have a 79 OB, so have the splashwell that comes into the deck a bit anyway... I've torn apart enought old GM engines in my time that I'm not afraid of the motor.
Can anyone comment on the outdrive in 1987? Good/bad, easy /cheap to replace?
