Does anyone know the weight difference between 150 HP and 200 HP. Just a ballpark figure looking for an outboard for my boat would like a 150 25" shaft but I see a lot more 200's for sale and was wondering if 200 is too heavy and would use too much gas. 40 MPH is fast enough for me. Any suggestions ? Thanks

that depends on what you are looking at? year, make, 2 stroke , 4 stroke??

Some have no weight difference others have a bidg difference,

IMO, 150 is all you need on these boats, 200 nice but the added weight and gas use for maybe 5 or 10 mph just not worth it. Now that gas is near $3 and heading up!!

Good Luck

Look through this site. Yes, everything is subjective but has some fair to good reference to prices, weight, etc.

Generally Speaking v6 150 - 200 all use the same blocks, mids, Lowers (except different ratios). The 2.0L 150 Mercs actually weighed more than the 2.4 and 2.5L 200hp mercs. The same block was sleeved down.
