I could not figure out how to post pictures on this site or I would not have sold through e-bay. I would rather sell to someone who knows how great these hulls really are. I need to sell this boat to restore marital harmony. My recent purchase of a duck boat pushed my fleet beyond my wife's comfort zone. I have enjoyed reading the posts on this site for over a year now and hopefully can get a v-20 again someday. The boat is in great shape, there are no soft spots, ther transom is solid and the cabin is clean. You can see the antiquated depth finder etc. I have not had time to get the navigation lights to work but I don't think that there any issues that couldn't be addressed with a little tlc. The motor looks kind of shabby, but it runs well. The drive-on trailer has rusty fenders and the lights work every now and then but it is very roadworthy. I would be willing to meet any member of this site within a reasonable distance or deliver if you are close enough. Please feel free to ask any questions.

Reel...so are these years for 25" shafts and yours is a 20"? I recall the 1984 that randleman just bought had some aluminum plate to make the 25" fit correct? So if your were going to repower a 1988 like this, what shaft length? Or does this have the adapter plate?
Sorry for dumb questions just getting confused on the shaft length and the brochures from Wellcraft in the Gallery don't seem to elude to what length shaft they need...I guess I'm wondering if one length is better than the other for some reason?
thanks!

KellyJoe, nice looking boat. I know how it feels, I have two boats and a wife, and fish with others sometimes leaving the two boats home. When it comes to fishing, I always invite the family, now, if they don't want to go, thats on them ;DI'm going fishing. Back to your boat, I have a guy at work who just asked me about finding a V friday afternoon. I'll check with him monday am.

Did you buy the boat in NC. ?? Looks like I have seen this boat before, but it had a Merc. on it.
kellyjoe
03-04-2007, 06:25 PM
I bought the boat from the second owner who bought it from a man near airslot at Captain's Cove about 8 or 9 years ago. It only has a single battery the gauges do not work the steering works fine. I just showed the boat to a member from Norfolk Virginia who stopped by and ran the engine for him but did not take a picture

oh yeah, fuel tank is in good shape no issues I did not stop using the boat this year until December. I used store and start in the fuel and just cranked the motor an hour ago and it started and ran fine

It was gatorbait and he came by suv. Airslot is right about me living in one of the fishiest spots on the east coast. I can see my fishing hole from my living room it's called Pungoteague creek. I am 1/4 mile from the chesapeake bay. I invited everyone on the sight to my church's fishing day last year but nobody was close enough to come. The offer still stands for this summer whether I have a Wellcraft or not.

GB, I'm pretty sure by '88 it was a 25" transom...advantage is deeper transom before water comes into splashwell and motor is more likely to tilt all the way outta the water when docked is all I know... :D ...

03-05-2007, 12:31 AM
I know that from 79 - 88, and maybe other years, both transoms were factory available.

03-05-2007, 09:54 AM
I looked at her yesterday but have not bid yet. Joe was very nice and I appreciate the time he took on Sunday to show me the boat etc. The boat itself is in phenomenal condition....better than the pics even show I think. The motor being "salty" as it is and not having a chance to really run the motor at idle well and do an in water sea trial is my only reluctance now. I never thought I'd buy a boat that I didn't see run in the water...just like buying a car that I haven't driven but who knows I may just be paranoid.
I'll keep you all updated...only 1 more day of the auction!
Thanks again Joe!
;D
macojoe
03-05-2007, 12:56 PM
Did you do a compression test on the motor?? Thats about the best test you can do to see what shape she is in.
did you remove the lower unit oil plug to make sure it had oil and not water?? How did it idle on the hose? Did you let it run for lets say 10 min and feel the pisser water, to make sure she wasn't getting hot?
Used motors are always a crap shot at best!! But if you get a season or two, then you can decide on what you want to do. Or it may last you 10 years??
But at least you know you have a great hull thats worth re powering at sometime!!!!
Good Luck!!
Good Luck!

Ok, CY. here it goes. Fishbone Jr. joined the site stating he was an attorney. He lived in a big mansion, owned severa sport cars and had his own limo and Limo driver.
He also had a V-20 and I think another boat as well. He posted pics. of his mansion and everything else. But this guy spelled worse then I do and the stories wernt adding up. We finally broke him...we thought and he confessed that he was a30 year old guy that does construction. Well, that story didnt add up. After a few more interviews, he finally confessed that he was 12 yrs. old. So it was really lies after lies until he left the site on his own. if he was truthful from the start, he would have been the yougest V-20 kid with the best knowledge on boats, but then again, we post some PG-13 and above stuff that may have caused us problems, so now you need to be a certain age I believe to be here. Fishbone Jr. was teh name of his make believe boat as well. He posted pics. of it, but somebody else must have owned it.
P.S. couldnt you tell when you seen Lisa and I in O.C., that we are really only 12 years old. :P :P :P :P :P
