As you may have heard I now own a Nissan 8 HP for a kicker. I needed some recommendations on a brand of bracket. And I have a jack plate on the transom is the steering going to cause a problem with the install and running the kicker?

It doesn't look like it would interfere. Are you restricted on which side you can install the kicker?

I like to put it on the port side

I would say go with whichever side it will work on. I saw the pic...sweet kicker.

I agree install it on the port side, Mine is on the starboard side and my lard a** weight does not help the balance if you know what I mean :)
Here is the bracket I used from West Marine, the tilt up and down is pain for some some reason, Check Craigs I have seen some better quality all aluminium. I was in a rush and did not do my homework, it looks good does its job but I am not really please. Just my honest opinion ..
Here is the link for it http://www.westmarine.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/producte/10001/-1/10001/28134/377%20710/0/bracket/Primary%20Search/mode%20matchallpartial/0/0?N=377%20710&Ne=0&Ntt=bracket&Ntk=Primary%20Search&Ntx=mode%20matchallpartial&Nao=0&Ns=0&keyword=bracket&isLTokenURL=true&storeNum=6&subdeptNum=625&classNum=784

That looks very nice Nymack - mine is a pain to raise as well. I have to keep it lubed and it is still difficult.
